Unless the engine is setup for higher octane there is no more power to be had from using an octane higher than specified... 87. Octane only reflects the resistance to detonation of the fuel, nothing else. However, if maybe you're going to tow a heavy load over South Pass in Wyoming or up the 7-Mile hill in West Virginia on I-64, where you'll be heavy on the turbos for an extended period, a little more octane might be a good idea. Especially in the hotest part of summer. This is not because of more power but simply increasing the margin to detonation when it's hot and the turbos are cranking alot of pressure...
