I'm really wanting to stay with the 2.7 and wanting to get a small travel trailer around 5000 lbs. I wouldn't be too concerned if the advertised payload was close to the actual, but it seems to be all over the place. I'm looking at a Lariot 400a 4x2 and want to see if anyone has any real world payload numbers. I'm not getting any of the tailgate, power bed options, or sunroof which should yield higher payload numbers. I'm concerned that I might need to bump up to the 5.0, which I really don't want to do
I know this has been talked about some in other subforums, but I'm looking for 2.7 specific numbers.
Update: The reason I'm concerned about payload is that I plan on buying a camper that weights around 5000 lbs (probably a little less). I have a spreadsheet where I can calculate the needed payload based on worse case scenario. Attached is the payload chart from the brochure. FYI, you'll never see max payload when you option out a truck. (Check the truck sticker with the tire information for payload).
Update Update: Ended up going with the 5.0 Lariat. My payload is 1925.
Started a spreadsheet, the more information I have the better.
