this is a fantastic option! How’s it holding up? And which phone do you have (with/without a case)?
She has Iphone 12 with a case and it works. It also works with her boyfriends phone, an older I phone with case. It was cheap, simple to install as it uses the USB charging port in the center console. Comes with the cord and everything. Even has a power button to turn it off when you leave the vehicle.

The built in charger is garbage. It will not stay connected to the wireless charging pad whether case on or off. I have an iphone12Pro and it's a pain in the ass. I have switched to a magsafe charger but before that, if you want something close, this works great. Never had an issue.

I wondered if that would be an issue. A lot of the built in charging pads being put in cars leave a lot do be desired charging and speed wise, especially when compared with a USB or USB-C cable.

You'd think it would be something that can be fixed in an ota update. Maybe just needs more juice, dunno. But you can be sitting still and it just disconnects from the charger.
Quite frankly, it's a pain getting your hand in there to get it sitting right.
I decided to go a different route that lets me see the phone.

That is true about getting it to stay sitting right. They can certainly adjust the charging output, but probably have it tuned way down for liability purposes. I wonder if that setting can be modified in FORScan? ?

Thought I would share my solution in case it gives ideas to others. Since I don’t have interior work space, I never need to fold down my shifter. I also didn’t want my phone tucked away in the media bin or console because I will forget it all the time. I 3D printed a platter that slides into the shifter recess, then bolted a mag safe charger through it. The charger is powered from the media bin USB-C port.

I have the Anker (2 actually) and use them in the house all the time. Love them and Anker in general. But the tray listed above has a much faster charge. I measured it very near 7.5w on my iPhone 11, which is at it's limit I believe. The only "negative" is that its inside the console. That has not been an issue for me. Also, I was getting ~ 5v from all the USB A and C outlets in the truck, which pleasantly surprised me. So, if you need the very fastest - plug it in, the same is true at home. But, I am very happy with the tray. A couple more notes: it appears that the rear and in console outlets are powered even when the truck is off. (I let it go for several minutes). The outlets at the dash turn off with the truck. Also, the USB A that is on the top of the tray was SUPER slow, I have even wondered if it was defective, but it did work. One last thing, there were some reviews about it getting hot. I used it on my workbench for a couple days to keep an eye on it. I did not have any issue. That said, the cooling ports are on the bottom, pretty sure you don't want to smash it down on a sweater in the console, give it some air.

Thanks for this tip! I ordered the wireless charger and 6" cable (90 degree USB-C to 90 degree micro USB) and it works like a champ. It allows me to keep my USB flash drive with my music plugged into the standard USB port while I charge my iPhone wirelessly out of the way all while using wireless Apple Carplay. This was an awesome tip!

I just came up with a way to add MagSafe charger to the console. Same principle as the wireless charge you can get but that really didn’t work to good for me. I just bought a center console organizer, MagSafe charger, and an adapter to mount the MagSafe charger in from Etsy. Basically just drilled a 2.5 inch hole in the organizer, snapped the adapter in and put the charger in. I also installed a dedicated PD USB C charging socket that will allow for faster charging. Thinking I might get brave and do the same thing in the media compartment.
