I got a Lariat with front row bench seat, found out after delivery it doesn’t come with wireless charging pad, which renders the wireless CarPlay feature useless.
Here’s what I settled after trying a few different products.
- MagSafe charging pad (apple original)
- A tri fold desktop phone stand for MagSafe pad
The bottom of the stand is snapped snuggly between the headrest and the middle seatback.
The charger is plugged into the 2nd row so sync4 won’t prompt “incompatible device”
The angle of the phone is adjustable and it’s always at my figuretip when driving, unlike dash/vent mount that I have to stretch forward to reach.
if I want to extend the work surface I can simply tilt the mount down so it’s out of the way.
I only wish this can be swivelled towards me so I can unlock the phone with Face ID. But once it’s charging it does not autolock so that’s not a huge issue.
