Was the GEN13 a better looking exterior?

While I would have been happy with finding a gen. 13, I was never a fan of the bracket headlights. [===]

It’s too bad that they will probably foul things up with the refresh; especially if they try to go in the direction of the Maverick and new Superduty

I love my 2022 Lariat and with everything going on the past year feel lucky to have Bluecruise, heated wheel, and even park assist that I'll likely never use. The interior is a huge upgrade and was the main reason I gave up my 2020. It didn't hurt that after 2 years of use I was able to sell it for nearly what I paid new.

But looking at 2020's owned by others at work and old pics of my 2020 I think that objectively the previous generation was a more handsome truck. Part of it is the boring Lariat Sport grille Ford uses I suppose...or maybe I'm a chrome guy and don't know it.

i agree most trim levels dont have enough chrome, this is my 21 rcsb xlt and it has chrome grille and bumpers from the factory but the mirror caps and door handles are from amazon

How do those shorties drive? Weight balance under acceleration / rear end slippy?

Earlier, I was only looking at used G13’s and I thought they were good looking trucks. Not sure why but I find their front grill a little more “distinguished” looking than the G14’s. But overall I think the G14 is a good looking truck, inside and out, and I’m quite happy with it (3000km in, still on the honeymoon, lol!)

I try to tell myself “who cares what the exterior looks like? You can’t see any of it when you’re driving and you only see it when you walk up to it!” But even still, I’m a sucker for a good looking vehicle. Older generation Ram (with the overbite grill)? Worst looking truck ever. I just couldn’t imagine myself driving those Rams, even if they were perfectly fine trucks. The newer ones (whose grills are more like F150 G14’s) are better looking. Sierra and Silverados, both previous and current gen, also good looking IMO.

Im really happy with mine i cant compare it to most other things as ive owned a 2006 jeep tj and 2009 ford ranger before this handles way better than the other vehicles ive owned, way more power, rear end doesnt kick out unless i shut off traction control, tows a 20 foot boat with no issues and with decent snow tires even in 2wd it handles the canadian winters like a champ in 4wd its unstoppable

Gotta disagree with this.
67-72 “Bumpside” (to me) the best looking trucks ever built.
They look good all cleaned up, dirty, bent, rusted out, or just being used as yard art. One of these has been camped out near me over 20 yrs and has not moved an inch, but the over growth covering it was finally cleared last summer.
Also believe the 64 Galaxie 500 XL was the best looking car ever built.
The ONLY car I ever really liked in red.
Im not even a Ford person—-lean to 60s/70s Pentastar cars.

Okay, I’ll play.
I do like the the Gen 14 over “most” previous versions.
Particularly the face of the truck (favorite nose is STX & XLT base)
Never was particularly fond of any of the front ends from 97 on up.
Gen 13 provided a body I really liked (despite the face).
I actually went to the Ford store to order a 2020.
went thru all the motions and went on home.
While driving home, the dealer called me to tell me 2020 was no longer available to order.
I just tell them to roll the same order into a 2021.
Had absolutely no idea whatsoever the 21 was a new truck..
Saw one for the first time a couple months after ordering when I went to that Ford Test Drive event that was cruising the nation.
Gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed.
Also managed a relatively early “Retail” build, and took delivery about 2-3 weeks before the “Pandemic Strike”.

Favorite bodies in this order:

Bumpside
62-66
Dentside
Gen 14

I added a flat black, low profile, stick on bug deflector to the hood. It makes the front end of the Lariat sport look more substantial, IMO.

I think 12th gen and then 14th.Never had a 12th but every time I see one on the road I am like that is a nice looking truck.

Gen12 > Gen14 > Gen 13. The Gen13 LED headlights with the dotted rope around the outside is terrible.

No offense, little brother, but the Superduty is the baddest mofo on the block!

Of all the many vehicles I've owned (and sold) in my life, THIS is the one I wish I had never gotten rid of (well, except for the current price of diesel fuel). I'd choose to get this back before I'd take my 2016 Corvette Z06!

I do love my '21 Platty, though.

I love the 22 F250 with Lariat/Ultimate BAP the best! A damn shame they face lifted it. The F350 DRW Platinum for 2022 also look killer but that's a $100k loaded the way I like it.

I love Gen 14 and that gets my vote. It was a close call though between Gen 14 and Gen 12. My 2014 F-150 SCrew in Blue Jeans was a hot mama with a 2.5" level and KO2s. This pic isn't mine (I don't have any pics) but looks damn good (looks like a 4-5" lift) and shows how awesome Gen 12 was:

I was thinking the 15-17 was Gen12. If I am wrong then that means Gen13 actually has 2 different looks: 15-17 & 18-20? If so, then Gen13 > Gen 14, obviously excluding the 18-20 years.
