Well that answers that!

No other explanation but supply chain?

Only other thing I can come up with is I don’t have the auto 4wd button because it’s an xlt
Except I have had IWE's on 3 trucks with 4A, so Ford has never used that as a factor in the past.

But who knows?
I've looked for official Ford information regarding and come up dry.

On the 4A trucks did the front end diff change or different transfer case from previous trucks? I'm happy I don't have the IWE, since I've only had issues on my previous trucks (that was the old vacuum system)

That'd be a good part's number research project. But even different part numbers might not represent significant differences internally. A simple relocation of a mounting bolt location would result in a different Borg Warner part number.

I don't think anything Ford did to the Gen14 drivetrain was significant. (Although the 3.5 Ecoboost internals is reported to have considerable number of different parts) The Powerboost even ended up using the 10r80 transmission, albeit with the required alteration at the bellhousing to accommodate the extra length to add the electric motor.

So has anyone with the 'deleted' controllable hubs (22+ 4A) checked to see if your half shafts turn or not? Did they straight up install locked hubs or have they come up with some sort of passive locking system?

I had a ‘21 XLT Powerboost with eIWE’s. My ‘22 King Ranch Powerboost (job 2, built in Sep) does not have any IWE’s.
