  1. 2024 - Has the 10 speed been remedied?

There is a fix for most shifting clunkiness and skipped ratios. It simply requires re-programming by someone who understands 10r80 programming. If you ever experienced a "tuned" 10r80, it'll make you ask Ford a lot of questions. Lol
  2. I'm DONE with OTA updates !

I see the quandary. On one hand, without updates I wouldn't now have the much improved 12V charging strategy that apparently is pretty recent. Nor would I have enjoyed the AMAZING improvements in Bluecruise that I used for ~13 hours 750 miles yesterday. (700 of which was I-10 east bound from...
  3. 2024 - Has the 10 speed been remedied?

Did you mean to say that the 10r80 wasn't widely used in the F150 until 2021? Or is that a typo?
  4. 2024 - Has the 10 speed been remedied?

There are literally millions of 10r80 transmissions in use. Millions. My family fleet has 4 currently and I've had 3 personally. None of which have ever needed a repair. They all can occasionally be quirky. But I doubt seriously that the percentage that experience serious issues is as high...
  5. Backseat sleeping in the powerboost with inflatable air mattress?

I can't vouch for the mattress approach, but it would appear that you would need some blocking under it in the floorboard? As for sleeping in a Powerboost, I CAN vouch for spending hours in it parked, "running", with the Sync4 screen off and a towel blocking the instrument cluster. I'd...
  6. 2021 Powerboost erratic shifting when highway towing

If you watch a 10r80 complete teardown and the fella includes a description of each element, as well as how the assembly functions, you get the idea that it's not likely each dealership has someone on staff wiith the necessary expertise to isolate and successfully repair them. At least I don't...
  7. Best DSC settings for Fox 2.5 Factory Elite

Although the geometry in the Gen14 is different than Gen13, I don't know by how much. I located the reservoir pretty much where you appear to have placed yours. Because of the caliper (massive, compared to oem) I had to have some custom concentric hub spacers made to clear the OEM wheels. I...
  8. 2021 Powerboost erratic shifting when highway towing

A lemon is a faulty transmission that after multiple attempts to get it addressed, it still isn't working properly. Most guys with a transmission-lemon would be thrilled to drop the lemon label if Ford would just swap the 10r80 for another, after failing to fix it successfully. And I second the...
  9. I'm DONE with OTA updates !

OTA is far from just a Ford thing. It's the future of automotive design and engineering. Today our trucks might be considered early adoption vehicles regarding the technology and approach. But soon they will just be part and parcel of the norm. Dad is 93. Up until about 3 years ago he was...
  10. I'm DONE with OTA updates !

A PCM or ABS or CCM or..... module update has nothing to do with Sync or gadgets or whizbang. Those updates address drivability improvements or perhaps addressing known issues. As a previous contributor pointed out, I'm driving a nicer performing truck today than the one I took delivery of 2...
  11. Any good experiences from PowerBoost owners

The "lost communication" codes are incredibly common and are rarely of concern. I suspect that the U3003 code is the only one to look into if it is persistent.
  12. Ford Shipping 144,000 Trucks

I admit that I would prefer my vehicle(s) to also please me esthetically. But it's NOT required. Or put another way, whatever vehicle it is, it's primary "mission" isn't glamor associated. So whether I agree with the Ram Charger being a handsome truck or not, I far more desire it to deliver...
  13. Anti-Sway bars questions

I'm a little surprised that the endlinks could reach one of the 3 holes with greater/less difficulty than the other holes. The distance between the holes is rather short, so the pivot-arc of the endlink is minimal. And besides, you would just lift or lower the sway bar itself to accommodate the...
  14. My F-150 ownership was short lived

    It's a sweet gasser for a 3/4+ ton truck.
  15. My F-150 ownership was short lived

Wicked truck. In the good way.
  16. Shifter +/-

I lock out gears every day I drive the truck for my commute. It's mostly the nerd in me while I'm monitoring PIDs and observing how the truck is being managed by the OEM calibration. I personally feel that the shift strategy in Normal mode is way too hell-bent on getting into the overdrive...
  17. King Ranch Floor Mats - Suggestions?

😁 Two years old Has mats inside to protect carpet Bedrug outside to protect bed. And moving blankets on the rear seats to protect them from carseats and munchkins. It's a truck, but it gets meticulously cared for. And I admit it's a little bit embarrassing. :)
  18. On board Power

Shouldn't be an issue that I know of.
  19. King Ranch Floor Mats - Suggestions?

I'll see if I can take some shots for you.
  20. PowerBoost MPG - WTH??

It's definitely speed sensitive. But for me it's even more smooooooth sensitive. Or put another way, it rewards rolling in and out of acceleration over stabbing it. I rather enjoy the challenge of driving the huge land yacht smoothly, but leading the pace. 😁
