I also use this unit, it has a power supply mode, which is what you want when doing updates. This unit was recommended earlier in the thread, I think it's Jesse's recommendation.

No, forscan is not like a tuner. The software does not marry to your truck. I've traded in trucks with forscan programming changes, figured next owner would want them also 🤣
its possible the dealer sold the truck and the deal fell thru, but somebody processed the sale. This started the warranty. What are the dates on the window sticker?
You can also goto Lexisnexis and pull your consumer disclosure report. It's free. You can request the report once a year. They will send you everything they have collected on you. People with GM vehicles have gotten 200+ page reports because all the vehicle activity being reported...
Time to pull the oil filter and look for metal debris. Odd they said the timing chain broke, because you were able to still drive it. I would push for a new engine.
I agree, updated my truck and went one a 1300 mile trip. Make the trip often and was always annoyed with the frequent dropouts of BC, none this time other than when in some crazy construction zones where the lines were screwed up.
