Unfortunately there is a limit(er) as to how much fun you can have.

I just finished a drive from San Diego to Long Beach and averaged 22 mpg driving at freeway speeds. Cruise was set at 77 mph. Not far off the 23 mpg that was on the sticker when I bought it.

I'm about ready to make the return trip and see what I get.
If I drive SUPER conservative (slower in every aspect than anything near me), I might see 18 in very slow around town. I have never broken 19 on level interstate at 74mph. 80? I would not make 16. Ford had nothing to say.

Wow... I rarely get over 20 mpg! Is your truck leveled? I am running with Nitto Ridge Grapplers (285/65R20) so they are heavy (61 lbs each)... I am convinced that's what killing my MPG.

Hand calculated last 5 fillups was between 23.9 and 24.5. I have gotten 17.8 when I first bought it. This was a trip to South Dakota ( 3,200 miles) with an average speed of 80 and running around hunting. Best I have ever gotten was 28.3 on a 14 mile trip to town.

My gas mileage improved as the total mileage on the truck increased, this has been the case on every Ford truck I have had since 2009. I am running General Grabber ATX tires and mileage also improved when I increased tire pressure to 40 vs 35 psi.

This is a photo of a recent trip on the interstate with no head wind.

No my truck is not leveled yet. My tires weigh in at 45.4 lbs apiece. That and driving conditions and style could be making the difference. I seldom do over 70 and stay out of boost as much as possible.

Averaging 21 mpg over the last 2 months. Short trips around town so good use of electric only mode.

My truck is leveled on stock sized but AT tires and I average 19.7-19.8 mpg every tank.

I've made several changes including, bed cover, camper, leveled, wheel spacers, small fender flares, tuned, removed front valence and added skid plate... And none of that made any difference that I could measure consistently.

2 things did make a difference in mpg:
1) regular to Super unleaded definitely netted me about 1 mpg increase (and notable power too)
2) going from the stock Hankooks to All Terrain Recons in the same size and weight class cost me 2 mpg right away.

When it was dead stock, tires were aired up, Super Unleaded, stock tires, and driving pretty nice in good weather I'd get 23 mpg, but mostly got 22.

I live off 2 lane country roads that are curvy and hilly and have definitely noticed that when I do the occasional flat Interstate cruising, as long as I keep speeds 65mph and below, can net some pretty high numbers, mid 20s.

19.4 mpg since truck was new after about 5K miles. Got 22 mpg on a 100 mile round trip two days ago.

That’s interesting, the 1 MPG increase for premium gas. That would be about 30 extra miles per tank, so probably not worth it as far as money goes of it costs more than about 1.5 gallons of regular gas to fill the whole tank with premium.

It definitely doesn't pay for itself. Basically a 5% increase in economy for a cost increase of about 20%.

But then you are also gaining notable throttle response and also, if you are already paying for the Super, you can then run a tune that makes the truck a different animal.

For the lowest cost per mile, run regular.
For the highest mpg reading run ethanol free 91-92 (whatever is available where you live).
For the most power run Superunleaded, preferably with a tune.

21.5 in the winter and just over 23 in the warmer months over the last year and half. Truck is all stock although leveling kit and tires go on real soon.

Did you do any powertrain updates and check the air filter?
