  1. Swapping in 3.55 or 3.31 Gears into a 4WD

Can you elaborate on this? I hardly tow, and don't go to the dragstrip. Mostly just drive to where I need to go. What are the advantages in my circumstances? But you have piqued my interest for sure. What's involved for install? Do you need to pull the bumper? Which brand of intercooler...
  2. Better to replace spark plugs earlier than 100K if running a tune? Also, any better than OEM sparkplug options available?

I ended up installing the ' NGK 95605 LTR7BHX Ruthenium Spark Plugs, one step colder than stock' at 36K miles. They were all pre-gapped to .028" so I left them as is. I didn't use any anti-sieze but I did add a squirt of di-electric grease in to the coil boots. I searched for torque specs and...
  3. Swapping in 3.55 or 3.31 Gears into a 4WD

If you average 20mpg, you burned .5 gallon of fuel while driving those 10 miles. Depending on location that cost about $1.50. An increase of 15% means you spent .23 cents to save 2 minutes. If you drive long enough to save an hour, that hour cost you an extra $6.90 in fuel. Not sure what your...
  4. Swapping in 3.55 or 3.31 Gears into a 4WD

I had noted before that I saw a DROP in mpg going to the Livernois tune, contrary to other's opinions. My truck was pretty new at that point, and I was still learning the thing, but I had suggested a solid 1 mpg drop, although I felt it was really a bit more than that at around 1.5 mpg loss...
  5. Swapping in 3.55 or 3.31 Gears into a 4WD

I just have an aversion to my rig looking like an electric razor going down the highway though. ;)
  6. Swapping in 3.55 or 3.31 Gears into a 4WD

My Powerboost truck has quite a few mods including: Livernois Tune, skid plate with no air dam, AFE, camper shell, wheel spacers, pocket fender flares & leveled. But the one change I made that instantly dropped 2mpg was swapping to stock sized AT tires. Switching to Super was good for a solid 1...
  7. Swapping in 3.55 or 3.31 Gears into a 4WD

Mine starts to drop quickly over 55 mph. Past 65 mph it's way off. I see the guys quoting 26mpg etc. and I believe it when driving 55mph on flat highway. But at 75-80 I'm getting 16 mpg. I generally drive around 65mph and average right at 20 mpg most tanks.
  8. Riveted Fender Flares - Yes or No

I like them on the right truck, the F150 ain't that truck imo unless you are going 6" lift, etc. But it's your truck so do whatever you'd like.
  9. Ford cutting workforce at F-150 Lightning plant in Dearborn

First, I'm pro-oil and sell equipment into the industry. I suspect you are involved as well based on your response. However, paying your corporate taxes is something that all companies are supposed to do. If any industry is allowed to not pay their full tax bill, that's just corporate welfare...
  10. Ford cutting workforce at F-150 Lightning plant in Dearborn

F**k Yes. And the Feds should quit subsidizing oil as well right? chirp chirp.... Biden budget targets U.S. fossil fuel subsidies | Reuters "Calculating the cost of U.S. subsidies for the fossil fuel industry is complex because the incentives stretch across the U.S. tax code, but estimates...
  11. LensunSolar Hood Solar Panel F-150 Powerboost BAP/Tremor Hood Installation

First we'll get our plug in hybrids. Then I bet we'll start to see solar panel kits like this to assist in keeping the small battery pack charged. I'd even like to have an entire row of them on top of the camper.
  12. LensunSolar Hood Solar Panel F-150 Powerboost BAP/Tremor Hood Installation

Pretty cool idea, even if the implementation is a little rough.

I didn't know this. Good info. Thanks.

Whoa there Charles Dickens, I only read texts length or shorter.
  15. Will Ford do a PHEV Powerboost?

There should be no transmission, probably a NA V6, no driveline, fuel tank about 12 gallons, no differential, etc... Plenty of room for a real battery pack. Also, they need to get away from the Li-Ion batteries that only like 20-80% charge curves because in this duty cycle it's all about 100%...
  16. Better to replace spark plugs earlier than 100K if running a tune? Also, any better than OEM sparkplug options available?

So in this application (turboed, tuned, in my case very hot Summers and one instance of heavy knock while going uphill last Summer), what would you choose to run for plug gap? The video you linked was cool, but what it doesn't tell us is there any difference between .020, .03, .04. .05"...
  17. Will Ford do a PHEV Powerboost?

Any less than about 80+ real world miles on the batteries alone isn't worth the trouble of plugging in every night.
  18. State Farm Monster Loss Announced ~Insurance

    1) 76% of all homeowners suits are from FL alone, yet they only have 8% of the insured. 2) Try insuring a Semi truck. Due to several factors, not the least of which is the prolific 444-4444 lawyers telling everyone to sue trucks, the costs have become positively insane to insure semi-trucks. A...
  19. Better to replace spark plugs earlier than 100K if running a tune? Also, any better than OEM sparkplug options available?

Thanks for all of the good info in this thread. I ordered a set of these NGK plugs today. Is it correct to assume that a wider gap creates a larger spark which is good for combustion where-as a more narrow gap creates a smaller spark that is more resistant to mis-firing under challenging...
  20. Automatic software updates DON’T work!

Does having a Livernois tune prevent the OTA updates? Thanks!
