Got 2.8.1 installed today OTA! Took about an hour; had truck on a trickle charger just in case.

Just received 2.8.1 this morning. No battery charger. I normally hit the Update now button when I arrive at work after about an hours drive. Things are progressing well for me at least, I was stuck on 2.3.0 for almost 2 months and in the last month I have received:

2.6.0 on 5/12
2.7.1 on 5/17
Trailer recall on 6/3
CSP 21B37 (5.0 only) on 6/7
2.7.3 on 6/9
2.7.4 on 6/14
2.8.1 on 6/17

I hope it's quick too but I'm not counting on it. They way these update are released are crazy. No rhyme or reason at all. Good luck to you!

I keep getting a fail for 2.8.1 due to low battery but when I check the battery it’s 12v. Do you think a trickle charger will do the trick?

Would be a pain having to connecting the charger all the time, can't hurt and worth it in the long run.

@Kanuck yes I agree and for some reason this is the only update I’ve had that has failed. Probably because it’s such a large OTA update.

I had 2.6.0 fail while I was at home and the truck parked, but 2.7.1 worked a few days later when I was driving. So I reset my update time to when I will or might be driving.

I just looked on the version list on Wikipedia, it says the truck is undriveable for 145 minutes. That would drop battery voltage down for sure. Definitely put a charger/ power supply on the truck when parked.

I was concerned about my 2.8.1 update also. Although I have never had one fail, I made sure to hit the "update now" button right after I made my morning trek into work. It's about an hours drive and around 50 miles. It completed in about an hour. I really have no idea if it would have worked or not if the truck had been just sitting overnight. It "might" be worth a shot to drive around for a while and update as soon as you get back.

Drive it awhile to charge it. If you have a trickle charger put it on but will probably make it if battery charged up from the drive. The 143 min one for me only took about 60 mins.
