You don’t need to be a Ford employee. Anybody can buy an FDRS license and punch in their—or anybody else’s—VIN to see the update status of the truck. To do anything with that information, however, will cost you another $550 for a vehicle interface cable.Perhaps my following question has been answered in another post somewhere, I don't know. With a VIN some guys can tell you about software updates. How is this so? Do these people work for Ford? Or are these guys using their own paid access to FDRS? Can anyone check on this stuff if they pay for access to FDRS? I'm just curious.
