Free or cheap mods

[Highway 11]

I have a quad fold tonneau cover I ordered should be here this week. I wouldn't mind finding some kind of tool box that would go all the way to front of my bed and it could be just under bed cover and go all the way to both sides. I'd store ratchet straps and maybe a decent jack and other stuff like that in.

If you're handy or know someone who's handing, something that takes advantage of the front two box links or the mounts for the front two box links wouldn't be incredibly difficult to build/fabricate.

Probably the cheapest mod I have done that made the biggest change in appearance was Plasti Dipping the fender badges and the grille and tailgate Ford emblems. For the cost of a can of Plasti Dip and a can of glossifier, it gave me the biggest bang for my buck.

For certain trucks, you can add auto wipers with only a $50 sensor and some Forscan changes. For non-FX4 4wd trucks, you can add rock crawl mode with a single change in Forscan. Hill descent control can also be inexpensively added to 4wd models without FX4, but it requires some dash disassembly, a new switch, some wiring work, and some Forscan changes.

My stx already has the black fender badges but I really do like the emblems. My luck I'd mess it up then I'm stuck with some jacked up emblems or spend a few hundred on more. Lol
Did you take off emblems to do them or just taped around them

I've thought about the auto wipers bit seems alot of stuff for something like that. Then I have an stx so I'm sure it's not as easy as for everyone else. Lol.
If I'm not mistaken mine has the rock crawl and for sure has hill decent. I have a fx4.

I just masked around them. And the great thing about Plasti Dip is if you mess up, you just peel it off and try again.

Yeah thats true I think I'm going ro try it. What all I need just a can or so of plastidip. And obviously masking materials.
Do I just do light coats till the darkness I want is reached

You’ll only need 1 can of plasti dip and 1 can of glossifier if you want a slightly shinier finish. I gave mine 3 or 4 light coats and followed it up with a coat or 2 of glossifier. Wait for it to dry and peel off the areas you don’t want covered.

Well I think this weekend I may try this out. How long between coats I need to wait to apply another

Not the cheapest mod at $35 but I like the color pop from these tow hook covers from Towkz.

More expensive than a rattle can but cheaper than a powdercoat job.
