Ford going cheap on the seats

My 2013 F150 FX4 leather seats were much more comfortable than my 2022 F150 Lariat. I’ve also noticed the leather seems “looser” after only a few weeks of wear. Disappointing for the price of these trucks.

I've had a 2018 KingRanch, and I sat many long days in the saddle while crisscrossing the country.
But both the 2021 Platinum that I had for 1 year, and the 2022 KingRanch have both been more than comfortable enough.

The degree that the pedals, steering wheel, seat bottom, seat back, and shoulder pad adjust pretty much allows for perfect ergonomics. Takes some fiddling to get it right and then assign everything to a memory button.
Do the same for when the truck is in remote office mode, memory setting #2.
(and the Powerboost is an amazing office with only the occasional need for ICE to recharge the EV environmentally controlled cabin)

That Platinum seat is what I need! I’m still struggling getting comfortable in this Lariat seat. That platinum seat is much larger with better support. Agree with the other guy that mentioned the “leather“ seems a bit looser.

Yea, that seat delete for the Platinum/KingRanch/Limited is pretty much like deleting the Kings throne.

Or the CEO's chair at the end of the conference table. All the executive chairs around the conference table are nice, but they aren't the same as that one at the head of the table. Lol

Is replacing lariat seats and with platinum seats even a thing (when supply chain issues aren't happening)? I would actually be interested in doing that if I tried the platinum seats and they were more comfortable. I dislike my lariat seats that much.

It's possible to put Platinum seats (multicontour) in an XL, if you are willing to purchase "the list" of necessary items.

It's been done, which is why I sound confident.

I sat in a 2023 Lariat Sport for about 10 minutes and was not impressed with the seats. It is lacking lower thigh support and the headrest is fixed and doesn't tilt front/back like in my 2014 FX-2.

A big complaint with the seats that don't have the shoulder pad is the lack of upper back support. There's about a 7" space from the top of the lumbar support to the seat frame. The previous gen was like this too leaving only the seat fabric to serve as support. I fixed this in my old 2019 by stitching together a couple of heavy duty zip ties and looping them around the vertical bars of the lumbar support to more or less add to the support where it doesn't feel like you sink into the seat back.

The seat frames are the same on the new trucks whether they have the standard seats or shoulder support. Haven't seen a max recline so can't comment there. It wouldn't be too hard to grab a seat cushion and seat back along with their covers and swap it out for better support.

The pictures above of the Platty and the KingRanch were both full recline. I'm not sure that the seats would fundamentally be different in geometry, although the pivot cage I guess would be altered?

My 22 Platinum's chairs that had massage and lay flat were no where near as comfortable as my 23's with none of those features. I have no idea why, but they are in a different league.

Those platinum seats look amazing. But I prefer the looks of my Lariat over the Platinum... Just wish I could get those seats!!

The seats in my 2021 Lariat are terrible. Most uncomfortable seat ever, the "leather" is horrible quaility it reminds me of the vinyl in my grandmothers 1972 Mercury Comet. Certianly does not compare to the leather seats in my 2018 Camaro SS.

Tremor shares the same seats as the Lariat trim level.

After looking at the pictures in other posts, they seem to be a hybrid of the lariat and king ranch+ seats.

Bringing this back…look at this 2020 Lariat seat (sorry for the screen grab from my ipad). 1000% Ford going cheap on the new stuff. This seat looks very similar to my 2011 comfy seat and way better than the sub par seat in my $70k Lariat truck… Pretty disappointed actually. Shame on me I guess for not paying attention to the change.
