Ford going cheap on the seats

Is anyone else disappointed in their seats? I’ve been driving around in my Lariat for just over a week now and I find them not all that great. My wife’s limited Explorer has basically the same seats, just a bit smaller. I dislike them as well and find them uncomfortable on long drives.

Am I being too picky? I guess you need to option for a Platinum or Limited for good seats these days…

My previous 2011 F150 FX4 leather seats were amazing. Like sitting in a cushy leather recliner. Most comfortable seats ever. This is the best pic I have of them when I was selling the truck. I miss those seats!!

My ‘13 seats were way nicer than my ‘21. Like you said, like a leather recliner.

I went from a '20 Ranger Lariat to the '22 XLT F150 and the F150 seats are much better than the Ranger. Those wewre non-perforated leather and very hot in the summer not to mention just a tad narrow for my big ole butt. It took a few weeks to get the F150's seats dialed in to where I like them but now after 4500 miles they are very comfortable. The inner foam is very firm so try making minor tweaks to the seat position and lumbar pressure to see if you can find the right spot for you.

Yeah, I’m still playing around with seating position. Same issue with our explorer seats, the bottom seat portion just seems to narrow/small for me.

That is the one gripe I have about Ford seats. The seat bottoms are no where near long enough for us taller folks. The Ranger was even worse than the F150. The seat bottom ended just past mid thigh. The F150 is a little better but still not long enough.

I came from a 2016 Jeep Wrangler JKU with leather seats. My 23 Limited seats are a huge improvement despite not having the massage function.

Not sure if the same holds true for the F-150, but on the Expedition the leather is actually the highest quality in Kind Ranch. Limited and Platinum are a hybrid leather and the rear rows are fake leather. King Ranch is true genuine hides and the 3rd row is leather instead of fake leather. The KR interior is actually worth significantly more money than a Plat by materials used. I just have cloth so I have no dog in it lol.

My 2022 Lariat seats are more comfortable for me than my 2020 Lariat and 2012. I think it's primarily that the inflatable lumbar seems wider in the 22 and the 20 seemed to just jab the spine almost like a spear. Obviously everyone will be different here.

my 21 f250 Lariat was very comfy
my 22 f150 KR seats with MC are a huge upgrade. but the bottom bolster could be longer
10 - 12 hr drives are pretty comfy
my 16 expedition KR was also very comfy

Same experience. I didn’t hate the seats in the Ranger, but I just feel like I fit better.

Also getting rid of my fat leather wallet for one of the Ridge-type wallets helped immensely as well. I can't believe I sat on that thing for 30+ years..

I started pulling my wallet out and putting it in the console years ago after the chiropractor suggested it was the cause for the lower spine/hip alignment and pain issues I had had for at least 25 years. After doing that and a half dozen sessions all my lower back pain went away and hasn't come back.

I'm not in love my Lariat's seats other. The back is fine, overall shape is fine, but I feel like the seat cushion material could be way better. my '21 Ram Laramie seats were way better. One of the few things I liked better. LOL
