Just saw this - https://www.autonews.com/nada/ford-...hips-controlling-non-safety-critical-features

Ford executives told dealers the company would provide the missing parts for dealers to install within one year.
Vehicles will be Drivable and Sellable

GM has been doing this for awhile. I guess Ford Finally ran out of spaces to park partially built F150's?

Thoughts? I have an F150 in Build week 1/10 thats waiting on chips. Will be interesting to see what's "missing" and if they can ship it.

Paying for a platinum /w XL features just doesnt sound fun. And if this chip shortage continues do you think Ford is going to prioritize retrofitting 2022's they already sold or using chips to build more trucks to sell to new customers?

This may be for non-ordered vehicles. I share your build week of 1/10. The Ford website no longer shows an ETA for my truck, which was 04/26. I'm hoping this means there is some type of movement. I have no idea which features require chips...so I cannot comment on what deficiencies I would accept upon delivery. However, I would expect some sort of compensation from Ford.

The chips that were in short supply last year operated the windshield wipers. Can’t have a truck with no wipers.

also the backup camera. Also illegal not to have (in Canada anyways)

if I’m paying 80k for a truck it better be complete.

Keep in mind... "Ford" doesn't install "chips".

They install 'Modules".

Modules they get from 3rd party suppliers like Bosch.

So if they're shipping a truck missing modules, I wouldn't be too concerned about your local Ford tech plugging in a module...

Modules or chips, it’s not really the point. I don’t think anyone on this site needed clarification.

There's no way they can expect me to pay full price for an incomplete vehicle. This makes no sense to me. Like someone else said, there would have to be some compensation.

If you don't I bet there will be a line of people at the dealership who will.

I just went on the Ford site and built the truck i habe on order. Tow mirrors don't seem to be an option anymore.
