I have the 3.5, so I don't have any 2.7 experience. But back in the 80's and 90's, F150s towed campers your size with a 225 horse power v8. That 2.7 will do the job, no doubt about it.
I drove 1000 miles pulling my camper this past Thanksgiving. MPG varied tank to tank. I definitely got bad fuel on 1 fill, ended up below 7 mpg. Best I did was north of 12 mpg.
I've had my truck a year now, never been in sport mode. I'll have to try it. The Lariats switch to 4A in Sport, so traction won't be an issue.
I've only mashed the pedal 1 time, that was in Normal Mode. My kids screamed in a mix of fear and excitement. I cant imagine what sport must do?!
I'm curious about this also.
I did an overnight in a Cracker Barrel this past year. I was hoping the timed start would refresh the battery to keep the fridge and heat running, but I dont know if that would provide power to the trailer harness.
A simple test light may work. But these trucks...
My truck is a pavement queen. The only dirt it sees is the campgrounds we visit and a few kayak launch areas. People ask me why I didn't get the FX4 package all the time, it would have been a waste of money and payload for me.
Some TT dealers won't even let you transfer your existing WDH when trading for a new one. They make you pay to install what you already own on the trailer they are selling you.
I ordered a Lariat sport package (chrome delete) with tow mirrors. The f'in mirrors came with chrome caps! Pissed me off, had to switch them out as soon as I picked it up
Don't t forget where and how they get the materials for batteries though. Im not one of those "anti-ev" types, but im also not gonna ignore the human and environmental toll the mining creates
My explanation would be my experience with my particular setup. I have somewhere north of 3000 tow miles with my truck. I have a 4 point Equalizer WDH. It's obvious pretty quickly when I forget to turn the sway control off.
I feel I have my trailer setup well. Slightly trailer tongue down...
A lot of people have different experiences and sensitivity to sway. Another friend of mine has a 22 F250. He thought I was nuts until he turned his off. He couldn't believe the difference it made.
I'm sure experiences vary with setups also.
The onboard sway control fights the WDH, creating sway. I notice every time I get to highway speed, goes away as soon as I turn it off. I have a friend with a similar trailer, same truck and WDH, his experience is the exact same as mine.
I have over 3500 miles pulling my 31 foot, 6800 dry weight camper with my 22 Lariat, 6.5 bed with Max tow. O issues outside of poor fuel economy when im Orth of 55 mph. I have a Equilizer hitch, which does a great job with sway.
