I got a quote to install a 4-circuit manual generator transfer panel with 20 amp inlet. According to the electrician they asked if the 2.4 requires a lifted neutral for the powerboost to work? I am not an electrician and figured this awesome community could help.

It's subject to all of the same things the 7.2kW system is, and can be bypassed with a version of the dogbone which is easier because it's 120v parts.

Only the 2kW ICE specific unit features an unbonded ground.

Ask for a quote on a 30a generator interlock back feed setup as well. You can upgrade your 2.4 to a 7.2 for about $1k if you desire. The 2.4 can be sold for an unknown amount of $ as they are on ebay.

Wait - I can upgrade my 2.4 to the 7.2 in the back of the truck? I read many threads that eluded to that but never got confirmation.

I suggest wiring your house assuming so. Ford says you can't. We'll see.
I'm going to use mine as a guinee pig and then we'll know. Going to do some crude parallel generator tests first, and none of that till we get a little warmer.

Regardless of whether you upgrade to the 7.2kW or not, I would ask the electrician to install a 30A inlet at a minimum. You might even ask about 50A as well. Either would be a significant upgrade from 20A and be much more future proof should you ever upgrade, buy a standalone genset, etc.
