So I have a low tech solution (possibly) when trying to connect my Powerboost to the house. I do not want to disconnect the bonded neutral and loose that protection, so I connected a plug to the house and ran it to a breaker in my main panel (which is the only panel for my house) and ran a separate ground wire and rod from the plug in. So now the truck is still grounded and my panel still has a bonded neutral. Kill the main and flip on the breaker to power the house, worked great. So what are your thoughts?

Buyer beware: I just tried to have the Generac 6852 installed at the house today and the electrician said because my septic pump was on a 40 amp line he couldn't install it.

I guess the 7.2 Powerboost generator maxes out at 30 amp.

Unfortunately for me this was an expensive learning lesson since I bought the truck for this purpose.

hmmm, for all the complicated stories you hear here, this seems to be the simplest, with a real 100% grounded circuit and NOT bonded at all times. Thanks for sharing!!

I don't know much about septic pump but is it 110V 40A or 220V 40A? My son for his water well he has a pump of 220V 20A. Septic pump might have a requirement way higher than for water only. Anyway if you have 110V 40A may be it could be rewired to 220V 20A....

The electrician showed me the septic pump specs and it did say it pulls up to 36 amps (I assume that would be at startup).

Is that 120v? If that's 240v 36a (probably LRA), that's quite a beast. Personally I'd run staggered 120v pumps that can run on a 20a circuit for redundancy. What's your lift height? A single 120v 20a circuit pump can easily clear a washer / shower / toilet simultaneously at 12' lift on a 2" pipe.

Yep. The well at my old house was 560' deep and was 240, 30 amp.

240 40A sounds like way overkill for a shit slinger.

Yes, it's 240v 36a. Two Zoeller Effluent Pumps (model E165) 1 HP, 230v. I assume one of the pumps is a backup.

I found this pump on the internet, Zoeller 165-0004, Model E165, High Head Effluent Pump, 1 HP, 230 Volts, 1 Phase, 10.2 Amps, 1-1/2" NPT Discharge, 61 GPM Max, 86 ft Max Head, 20 ft Cord, Manual. If it is the same pump then it's only 10.2 Amps. Maybe the electrician is taking other equipments in consideration which I don't know. Or I'm not reading this properly, which is possible :)

Can you show pictures of inside of box and how it is hooked up. Also wireing diagram.

Any advances made on this topic and the stupid bonded neutral problem? Was really just going to skip it and buy an EV, but ended up just ordering a '24 PB, so it looks like I'll continue with this problem for some years yet.

I'd like to have the backup power supply, but not willing to spend a lot of money to only have half my home hooked up. In that case, it would just make more sense to buy a generator for the home.

Thanks for any updated suggestions.

I was hoping to find an easy answer here as well. I've got a Reliance transfer switch that I've been using with a slightly smaller generator which doesn't work with my Powerboost. Needless to say, I'm not going to rip out one transfer switch to put a different one in for a slight gain in power, even if it is "clean" power.

I was able to test today the 'hack' with a new 2ft cable made by me and not connecting the ground wire, everything works ok.
However, the electric company called me and they told me that they are ordering the whole house transfer switch 6382, hopefully they can figure out what to be done with the aparent missing of switched neutral kit 6297.
Will keep everyone posted, the estimated for getting the parts is 1-2 weeks.

Was there follow up? Did you get the 6382 installed? or find the 6297 switched neutral kit which has been discontinued? This seems like the perfect set up.
