As an independent property adjuster, that is shocking. How bad was the damage? Did they consult a public adjuster or an attorney? Hail damage is usually a slam dunk. That's strange.Friends living in the Dallas area had their roof badly damaged on their house by hail and it was not covered by their homeowner's insurance. If your auto insurance will pay part of the cost I would be happy.
I had a Mustang that had the rear trunk face panel needing painting. I took it to a nearby paint shop and the did it with no paperwork and a cash payment. So while CARFAX has its purpose it is not fool proof. I have used POP-A-DENT to remove small dents in my rides and those don't show up as well.Carfax has three basic statements on accident history; minor, major and total. (Paraphrasing).
Minor can be a grocery cart, hail or old lady backing into the car in a parking lot.
Make the claim but take a few pictures before so when you sell the truck and they run Carfax you say, "Yes it was very minor damage from hail, as you can see here. No damage that will affect drivability or electrical."
I did this with a backup accident in a parking lot. Got full asking price when I showed pix....
same pretty much. They did a stellar job repairing mine. You got off easy.
My truck is unprotected and got nailed by hail in ‘22
Got every panel but the tailgate
Roof, windshield and hood were replaced.
I think ventless repair everywhere else.
Overall pretty happy with the outcome and could care less about resale ( I’ve had one truck 44 yrs, one 25, and one I sold in 21 I had 15 yrs—I tend to keep them)
At any rate, well over 10k hail damage.
Annoying part—98 chev parked on one side of the ford and my son’s Taurus on the other.
Couple of dings in those cars—beat the crap out of the 150

Two years on mine, and both sides had plenty of dings. Are you all finding that PDR is useless on aluminum bodies? One they should dent less in hail as aluminum is more dent resistant than steel; however, once the dent is there the paint will not hold to the shape and will peel over time.
