Hail Damage to my 2023 F150

Hello everyone, a couple questions for anyone with experience filing a hailstorm insurance claim.

Needville, TX recently went through a horrible hailstorm (softball size)

My truck was protected for the most part under a carport. I did get some quarter size dents and a busted left tail light.

Will a minor hail damage insurance claim depriciate the value of my truck when its time to trade in? I trade in my F 150"s about every two years at around 80k miles.

Is my insurance company or body shop obligated to report this claim to carfax etc...?

The estimate for the repair is $3000 with $1000 going to my bakflip bed cover.

Minor. Is subjected
Ask your insurance agent
If you get depreciated value,they can pay the loss difference
But in my experience a tail light and depression hail repair should not hamper resale value
Nor getting it fixed will assuredly effect value.
But only your insurer can give you the real deal on valuation

Yes there is a claim process. Each company has set up process
I would call the agent or main office Monday
But. Minor hail and a brake light are not IMO going to effect enough to diminish value if repaired. A t bone wreck or major damage would

Friends living in the Dallas area had their roof badly damaged on their house by hail and it was not covered by their homeowner's insurance. If your auto insurance will pay part of the cost I would be happy.

My car insurance covers hail
I have farm bureau
But. This is important
Your agent and companysadjuster determine .
If it's dentless it's easy. If they have to sand, paint body repair that's more money . A whole lot.
But only your insurance company can tell you 100% .
But again a taillight broken from a hail stone is vastly different from a busted light from Collison.
Easy steps. Read your policy. Talk to agent and go from there

My truck is unprotected and got nailed by hail in ‘22
Got every panel but the tailgate
Roof, windshield and hood were replaced.
I think ventless repair everywhere else.
Overall pretty happy with the outcome and could care less about resale ( I’ve had one truck 44 yrs, one 25, and one I sold in 21 I had 15 yrs—I tend to keep them)
At any rate, well over 10k hail damage.
Annoying part—98 chev parked on one side of the ford and my son’s Taurus on the other.
Couple of dings in those cars—beat the crap out of the 150

Aluminum has me concerned about the rare hail events we have here. Never seen more than marble size and my old 2011 didn't have any visible dents from multiple hail events.

Storm passed through here that Sunday night
We had small hail, and swimming pools
Our giant rose tree shrub got bent pretty far and the steel in ground holding it up bent

I get attached to my trucks too, by the company that I work for pays my note and makes me trade the truck in under 100k miles.

Carfax has three basic statements on accident history; minor, major and total. (Paraphrasing).
Minor can be a grocery cart, hail or old lady backing into the car in a parking lot.
Make the claim but take a few pictures before so when you sell the truck and they run Carfax you say, "Yes it was very minor damage from hail, as you can see here. No damage that will affect drivability or electrical."
I did this with a backup accident in a parking lot. Got full asking price when I showed pix....
