Cam Phaser noise consistent?

I just got a new (well 3000 miles) 2023 XL.

I tried the remote start from FordPass for the first time and the start up did not sound great.

I have tried two cold starts since and it sounds fine.

If cam phasers are going is it a consistent sound on every start up?

Can the remote start cause a weird start up noise?

I wouldn't think that remote starting the truck would have any affect, if anything, remote starting your truck tends to mask any noise on cold start. The reason is that usually you are not within earshot of your truck to hear anything. If your cam phasers are truly failing, then the noise is consistent. Congratulations on the almost, but new to you, truck!

Yeah, I was standing right next to it as I was testing everything for the first time.

I can’t exactly remember what it sounded like, but the beginning was a bit of a struggle almost like if the starter is bad?

Just have read about all the phaser issues and am now paranoid. First new vehicle ever and first Ford, so know nothing about them.

see if you can catch it on video tomorrow morning. I've heard of a few 2.7s with phaser issues. There's an updated part apparently. Mine sounds fine, but only 1500 miles. I make it a point to remote start it next to the engine every once in a while using the app. Not sure why, but I can't seem to get my key fob remote start working. Frankly, it's a feature I really don't much care for anyway.

I am a long time Ecobooster.
The 2.7 F150 hasn't been a phaser woe drivetrain.
And the Gen3 3.5 Ecoboost (2021+) has been pleasently quiet on the subject as well. It did get redesigned, yet AGAIN, phasers.

Although I caution my that it's early. Until we have many of them beyond 60-80,000 miles I'll reserve judgment.

Even if these phasers are going to hold up, I fully expect any Ecoboost that's sat for a couple of days to have a "dry" top end for a few seconds on coldstart. You can mitigate that using the so called "flood start" procedure to get some oil up on top before letting the truck light. Of course remote starting doesn't afford that option.

Started again today with no noise. Hopefully a one time thing.

Good to know about the flood mode start as I don’t drive that often, especially in the summer. Don’t know much about turbos and the like either as I have been a lifelong Toyota guy.

Going to change the oil and try my first flood start after.

Yep saw that thread. So far things have been good, but I have only started it up about 3 times.
