08182022: Ordered Truck
08182022: Received "Order Confirmed" email from Ford
10022022: Received email from Ford, basically saying, it's been a while, but we will give updates at least every 45 days.
10052022: Received email from dealer that said Heated Steering Wheel & Heated Mirrors are Removed
10102022: Received emial from dealer that said Heated Mirrors are back
10132022: Received "Scheduled For Production" email from Ford. Week of 11/21/2022
11182022: Noticed @ Ford Tracker, now shows "In Production", and Window Sticker is present
12012022: Ford Tracker now shows "Built" (with a date of 11/30/2022 under it).
12022022: Received email from Ford that says that its been built and "Our current estimate for delivery to Granger Motors, Inc. is between Dec 11, and Dec 17.
12272022: Received email from Ford that says "To ensure your complete satisfaction, we will require additional time before your 2023 F-150 Tremor is delivered...", and the updated estimated delivery date is now between Dec 23 and Dec 29.
12302022: I got an email from the Dealer. She was responding to my questions about the Ford email and the whole biz about ensuring complete satisfaction. She didn't have any answers on that front, but she did share what she's seeing on her end....which she is now seeing an estimated ship date of Jan 1-7. She had some more detials, so maybe this is more of a "real" date now? The previous statuses where also "Awaiting Shipment" and the secondary status was "Released". Now the seconday status says "Origin Received". Also, the previous "Vehicle Location" was very general, and now a Ramp number is listed.
01062023: Emailed my Dealer today to see if she was seeing any update. She got back right away, and let me know what she was seeing....and updated ETA of Jan 9-15. On my 4th ETA now.
01102023: Received email from Ford, like the one on 12302022, with ETA of Jan 9-15.
01162023: Emailed Dealer for an update, reply is that ETA is now Jan 13-19
01232023: Emailed Dealer for an update, reply is that ETA is now Jan 21-27...for my 6th ETA
01262023: Received email from Ford that my truck has shipped, and the new ETA is now Jan 24-30.
01302023: Received the "Financing" email from my dealer today, who also confirmed that my ETA is now Jan 28 - Feb 3 for my 8th ETA.
02062023: Received email from Dealer with VVR. Looks truck arrived in Kansas City (Ramp 6P) on Feb 1. New ETA is Feb 4 - Feb 10. So the VVR is different from the Ford Tracker site, which has a range of Feb 1 - Feb 14.
02082023: My daily (at least) check of the Ford Tracking site now shows Feb 4 - Feb 17. I'm really over this whole thing at the moment. A truck completed on Nov 30, shouldn't take over two months to get shipped 600 miles. Did we as a society/economy peak in 2019 and this is just as good as it's going to get?
02102023: Received email from Dealer that my truck has arrived!!! Then I checked the Ford Tracker site and saw the below. Finally getting close!!!
02132023: Dealer sent pics of the Truck!!! All looks great. Had some minor scratches on the rear passenger side fender trim. I couldn't even see them in the pic sent.
02142023: Dealer financing emailed me today with an updated order form that I needed to e-sign. No surprises, just needed one that showed the removal of the heated steering wheel and Advanced Security Pack.

02162023: Received Financing email, the one with the link to the credit app. Completed it the next day.
02202023: Got the Financing offer (really just the rate) back, as well as the Ford Care offer. Taking a pass on the Ford Care offer

02222023: Received the email with the link to eSign the Contract/Financing/Credit App docs. Used the link, esigned the docs.

A few things. On the 20th, I said okay, lets do it, but then didn't hear anything the rest of that day, or the 21st. I emailed today, and was told that my reply went to their junk folder. I'm not complaining, just explaining. I would say about 25% of Granger's emails end up in my Junk Folder as well. This process just finds ways to get strung out. Secondly, the lending doc I signed didn't collect or account for any taxes (I'm buying from another state). I know at one point I was offered that they could estimate them, and work them into the financing if I wanted. I was never asked again, so I guess they ran the deal without taxes. No biggie. I will just pay them in my state when I go register the truck.

Initial Thoughts.....whew...were to begin. Okay, random vomiting of thoughts.....

Buying Process Day of Pick Up:

  • Since Southwest doesn't fly direct, I took two flights to get there yesterday (Feb 24). Early start to catch a 8:15am out of Chicago, to St. Louis, then on to Des Moines.
  • Chip texted me early in the day letting me know where he was going to pick me up. He was waiting when I arrived. Van was marked with Granger so it was easy to spot.
  • Shared the ride with another guy buying almost the same exact truck as mine. It was a pretty short, 30min-ish drive from airport to Granger.
  • The buying process took about 1 hour. 11min or less for the financing stuff, since it was pretty much done via email already. The rest of the time was the demo of the truck and me messing with everything before I started my drive home. Super painless experience. Hats off to Granger....all dealers need to take note.
Initial Truck Thoughts:
  • LOVE THE TRUCK. As a 50 something, those Christmas morning vibes don't happen too often. Was grinning when I was driving it away. First in person pic by me is posted below.
  • So much tech!!! The positive of the 5 hour drive home was that it gave me a lot of time to mess with stuff the whole time, and trying to learn what does what.
  • Love the "Calm Screen" :) . While I like clicking down to get more info, I don't want all the biziness when just cruising. Also love that you can configure the "My View" to your liking.
  • LOVE the CarPlay. I've had it in rentals, now I have it on my huge screen and it really is the bees knees. I use my phone a ton for Podcasts, Pandora and Google Maps so it will be a daily use item for sure.
  • First vehicle I think I have owned where putting the seat ALL THE WAY BACK, isn't the most comfortable position. I was actually fighting this. But the long drive helped me realize that moving it a bit forward from all the way back, allowed me a better leg position for the dead peddle. It was almost a pride thing.....I just didn't want to move the seat up a bit.

Any Negatives:
  • Hardly any, but if pressed....
  • I hate stickers! But I seriously do. I'm probably going to be taking the Tremor stickers off the side of each bed, but the jury is still out. But there's like 3 stickers put on by Ford (not Granger) that suck. See pics below. I have pics of two of them...1 behind the rear view mirror (orange), and 1 low down at the bottom corner of the windshield on the passenger side. Both are really on there, and in hard to reach spots, so it's going to be a pain to remove them (I already tried). The third one (not pictured) is on the back windshield about the spray in liner...who knows if it's going to be easy to take off, but at least it should be easier to get to.
  • The negatives of the 5 hour drive home, is that I really didn't want to break the truck in like that. Tons of time in pretty much 10th gear. I tried to vary stuff as much as I could on a highway, but not my ideal. I would rather have some mix of in town, and highway and much shorter trips to cycle everything. Once I got back home, I think I was over analyzing this a bit, and was looking for issues....like the 10 speed trans seems to wonder which gear a bit when driving slowly around town. Probably not an issue, but now one I will watch.

I used a heatgun for about 20 seconds on the large "Dearborn" stick and it peeled off easy-peasy!

I have exactly the same thought on the transmission. I have 300 miles on mine and I find that is a great description - seems to wander which gear a bit in the lower gears. I find 10 speeds are unnecessary. Also I am having some slightly rough down shifts around 5-1 on the gears and wandering if that’s normal or it will calm itself down.

Great looking truck I just picked up my V8 Chapman Ford in Horsham PA I only had a 250 Mile Drive. I like the 10-speed transmission compared to the 6-speed in my 15. I did notice a few things are cheapened out no LED license plate markers. I don't like the cloth real well liners under the front tires I'd rather have plastic like my 15. Now I have to find time to swap all my overlanding gear to the 23

I used a heatgun for about 20 seconds on the large "Dearborn" stick and it peeled off easy-peasy!

I parked the truck in the driveway on Sunday, and it came off in two pieces (one little, then the rest) with very little residue. I think one of the issues with the orange sticker was that it was so cold and I was taking it off in my garage.

The 3rd sticker, the one about the Ford Spray In Bed Protector came off really easy.

She's now sticker-less....except the Tremor stickers on both sides of the bed is still there. The jury is still out. I was totally going to take them off, but in person some in the fam like them.

@Chipk you need to post some pics of your new truck! Nevermind, I just saw you other post. Sweet looking ride!!!

How did the buying experience go and the drive back?

Where are you going to go for service?

How do you plan to wash the truck? I know folks swear not to go to the automatics, but I want to keep it clean and would love to just take to Fullers or Gas-n-Was. My buddy has a F250 Tremor that is Blue Jean color, and his finish looks fine to me. Your thoughts?

Here she is from yesterday......

Very smooth, they could not have been nicer!

Where are you going to go for service?

Maybe try the Ford guy in Merrillville, Art Hill, but I see mixed service reviews...

I have a love/hate with the Fullers, but I also know that I won't be hand washing it as much as I'd like (or when I was in my 20's), so somethinig is better that nothing and I've seen no ill effects on my other vehicles. She's not a show truck with a $10k paint job! Anything to get the salt and grime off, especially this time of year...

That would be my second choice of color! Looks great....
