FDRS - Ford Diagnostic & Repair System
Factory diagnostic software for understanding data points and codes etc. I'm guessing.

I got the same email. It says 4A but also for my 2021 F150. I’m hoping drive modes come to sync screen AND I can pick a default.

I had the same issue after 4.2.1. I tried everything I read to no avail but then saw a thread over on a lighting forum that said pull fuse #32 in the passenger kickwell fuse box. I pulled mine and left it out for a few minutes, put it back in, and like magic it all came back to life. I've gotten another update since with no issues. I later found the fuse info on this forum as well. That said, don't drop the thing like I did. Your truck won't even start without it.

Quick edit - I too was stuck at activation. I ended up cancelling that by resetting Ford Pass connected features in the menu before doing it. I honestly don't think it matters. Let me know if it worked for you, guessing it will.

I've done everything but the fuse and batter thing. I called Ford Pass last night. I was told that there's a TSB for the issue. At this point, I think I'm just going to drive it into the dealer on Friday and see if there's a quick fix there.

Unfortunately, with Ford's crappy OTA process, not getting updates for months at a time is normal.

My truck was in the group with stuck OTA last year. With the help of this forum I got the Mongoose and an old Windows laptop, broke through the OTA wall and got BlueCruise working one year ago. Then radio silence all Summer. Finally in September of 2022 I got some OTA updates for the first time. Since then silence again. No OTA updates.

So yesterday I got out the old Windows laptop with FDRS and updated all of the outstanding modules. There were at least 10 with the giant APIM 5GB being the biggest. Not nearly the effort required last April. The whole thing took around 6 hours. I can see why the dealers won't do this.

In any event all went well and this is my current Sync version. There was also a big PCM update that I did.

After the update Alexa woke up which is nice. Also Ford Streaming came alive on the Ford Pass app. Apparently this is associated with Alexa but it appears to want the Ford cellular modem activated in order to work. That is not going to happen.

Anyone that has gotten 4.2.2, 4.2.1.2 and/or 4.2.2.1:

Please post which update you got and if your signature does not say what kind of truck you have, please post the year and engine type. So far, only two people have reported getting 4.2.2 and they were both 2022 owners, and the only people I have seen report getting 4.2.1.2 or 4.2.2.1 have been 2023 owners.

4.2.1 seems to be going out to all 2022/2023 trucks regardless of engine or trim. I am trying to figure out which updates are going out to what trucks, but I do not have enough date on these updates to say for certain yet. Thanks!
