Agree. Working theory when I lost my wheel and tire was that lug nuts where not properly torqued at the factory (new truck when it happened), then 5 of the 6 lug nuts eventually loosened and departed leaving the wheel attached by one lug nut and stud. Post mortem showed one stud had departed so...
It uses the 2022 PID's. Works fine on a 2023. Just tell the app you have a 2022. They changed several PID names in 2023. Not worth it to chase down until some new compelling PIDS are discovered in the 2023 versions.
Just upgraded to iPhone 15. In order to get OBDLink to work I had to delete the app and reinstall everything. So the Apple import function does not appear to bring everything over to the new device.
Well that is a long story. I only have 830 lbs on the tongue full loaded and ready to go, but to do that you will notice there is something missing from the tongue in the picture I posted. The full story is detailed in this build thread where I highly modified a 2022 Globetrotter to be easily...
Munro is really trying to be nice to the RAM folks, but I think he has it right.
Too much weight, complexity and cost to make a V6 ICE generator make sense.
The more I have been thinking about the Ram Charger the more it looks like the pick up version of this. In the end adding a ICE motor to a vehicle that is fundamentally an EV is nothing more than confirmation EV's are not ready for pickups without better recharge infrastructure and more...
I suspect what happened is that they "over invested" in the Lightning at the expense of the PB. A bad decision that cost Ford a lot. The technology and infrastructure is not yet ready to support an EV pickup. Someday that will flip, but not right now.
The current PowerBoost with a bigger battery (and gross weight increase to handle it) is the logical next step. So much energy is lost in regenerative braking in the current PB (particularly towing) because the dinky battery can't take it all in.
I will pass on that "Membership". Now they say you will get it in 2025. I don't think I want to be the first to get that complicated machine. I think Ford will respond with a new hybrid option before 2025.
The 2025 Ram Charger does look interesting and apparently will offer a 7.2 kw generator. It is not due until 4th quarter of 2024. I do hope the ProPower patents are weak. I might want to get a Ram Charger.
Having been deeply involved in many patent disputes, it is not over until a challenge. So far there is no other vehicle I am aware of that can produce 7.2kW of electricity from an inverter powered by a hybrid battery. Many vehicles have inverters with smaller outputs driven by lead acid...
Given we are edging away from supply chain issues, labor unrest and other pandemic threats to quality I would guess the odds of getting a good 2024 PowerBoost are very good.
I am still waiting for the new PB model announcement signaled by Ford last July in the earnings call. My guess is it was...
