Can’t believe this , i figure i must of set up something wrong ,sorry this a 2023 F-150 , i had a 2021 Ranger pulling the same trailer and i got 15-16 MPG

Are you using the Tow/Haul mode when towing? What speed are you pulling at? Are you staying out of turboboost range? Are you locking out the overdrive gears?

If your driving in hilly terrain and/or driving much more than 70mph I could see those numbers MAYBE. I was under the impression around 9 was the norm with a trailer with some height like a camper or cargo trailer. Also maybe the fuel? I’ve only used 93 octane so I’m. It sure if those numbers are realistic with 87

There is also a limit on the square footage frontal area of your trailer. Keep in mind that the windage drag goes up as a cubic function. So if you're going on interstates, particularly out west where speed limits are 75 & 80 mph, you're surely going onto the turbos... That'll kill mpg in a heartbeat.

I get 9-10 mpg pulling my camper (6,500 lbs), so your numbers do seem a bit low....Are you using tow/haul driving mode?

Basically if all things being equal, you now have a heavier more powerful tow vehicle, so regardless of how you drive, you are going to consume more energy to move more weight. Also the turbo engine just kills mileage when you make it work, and it likes to work. Only other thing you can do is use the (-) button your shifter and lock out 10,9 and even 8th gears when towing to keep the engine rpms higher, this will reduce your need to dip into turbo boost and possibly gain you some mpg's....

Weight doesn’t matter as much as wind drag does. This was on flat terrain and I was severely overloaded. Look at the gross vehicle weight. 22,940 🤣😂

Keep in mind that the quick & dirty way to prevent cylinder detonation when on the turbos is to enrichen the mixture... So I'd bet money that Ford enrichens the mixture by a good margin for turbo ops.

Are you running 93 octane when towing? I do, and get 8.8-10.5 MPG pulling a 5000 travel trailer. I also pull at 72-75 MPH.

Holy Cow Batman!! :ROFLMAO:

14,140lbs. on the rear axle lol! Well done sir. Payload sticker limitation my a$$!
If my calculations are correct, I had 16,940 in tow + payload when I crossed the scales. This is per the Ford Towing sheet and would make me 4,540 over official Powerboost capacity.

I had load levelers on the trailer at maximum setting as well.

Either way, the fact that there was less wind drag than some TT’s have, once rolling the MPG difference was negligible.
