Well you won’t believe what happened. Got there. Test drove it. Sat down to go over everything and the manager comes out and says that the service tech missed that there is a recall on it for the windshield and I can’t take it home until it gets fixed. Another 2 weeks at least!

What I don’t get is that it was produced 1/22 and SAT on ramp 59 for months. They couldn’t fix it while it was there?

Needless to say the GM came out and was super embarrased about the whole ordeal and offered free oil changes.

Two weeks to swap a windshield is absolutely ridiculous!

Not even swap it. Just pull and re-set it.

I was talking with a friend that owns a shop over the weekend and he said that it’s a lot more involved than just swapping the windshield. Something about having to modify the mounting. Still doesn’t seem like it would take weeks. Probably a parts availability problem.

There is no reason to hold the truck for the recall. The recall states that “Ford HAS NOT issued instructions to stop driving your vehicle”.
It’s insane. He told me “direct from Ford”. Apparently they can get into trouble?? Not sure. But the end result is I’m stuck with no truck...again.

I think it might be a never ending story the way it’s shaping up. Thanks for your condolences! Haha.

If your story keeps going you might have to consider naming your truck Falcor.

I believe most states have enacted laws that prevent dealerships from selling vehicles with open recall notices. Used cars are more at risk for this, but it does happen with new vehicles as well.

They can't legally sell it with a safety recall.

Couple weeks? My dealer is doing them in a couple hours. Something seems off with their timeline.

Also. I took pictures of the undercarriage. Pumpkin doesn’t look too bad. But not the end of the axle. Look at this:

They told me they need to also order windshields at the same time since 90% of the time the windshield cracks taking it out. They have 4 on order that take about a week to show up due to restraints. He told me I would be placed at the front of the line. But who knows.
