Added 285/45/22 Nitto Recon Grapplers to my stock Limited 22' wheels. Stock size was 275/50/22. Looked for a 285/50 or 285/55 but they only came in "LT" variety and wanted to keep the rotating weight down. Might look into 2'' ready lift level. My current ride with these tires is great so I'm a little concerned about adding the level kit. This is my first truck, and there always seems like there is just "one more thing" to do to it!

Suggestions on what to run on my stock 17" steelies? Should I get the steelies powdercoated?

Firestone destination XT 275/70 R18. Tires ride nice but definitely a little stiffer and a little noisier than the stockies but not over the top in any way and still provides a very comfortable ride. Also has the 2021+ rough country 2 inch level that I’m also pleased with. For the fire/gravel roads that will be driven the coil over kits would be nice but most likely not necessary especially for 400$ installed its 100% better than what a coil over would cost when 80-90% of driving will be on road.

What kind of MPG hit are you seeing with those E rated tires?

Looks great by the way.

Well my speedometer is slightly off but I’m still above 20. Could be more if I forgot how fun it is to hit the throttle.

Looking through this thread motivated me to dump the stock Good Years and replace them with BFG K02 275/70R18s. Also added 2.25” ReadyLift level. I think it’s a night and day difference. A lot of bang for the buck.

How’s the noise on the tire set up if any?

285/65/18 KO2’s on stockers, Bilstein 5100’s on in rear, and Bilstein 2.1” strut leveling kit up front.

I have a Les Schwab tire made by Mazama called the Open Range A/T tire in 275/70/18. Also have the Fox 2.0 (21+) lift/level.
I have put 3K on these tires (60 day money back, 60K mile warranty, E rated, 3 peak) and my impression so far, is these are the best tire I've owned, and I haven't even had the chance to try them in snow yet. They run smooth and very quiet on pavement and offroad they haven't let me down yet. There is a trail I had to use 4x4 with my factory (Michelin Primacy) tires on that I no longer have to with these tires.

Thank you! Yes this is correct, if you have the max tow package the rear brakes are bigger and 17 inch wheels won’t fit.
Sorry if this was already answered (trying to make my way through this whole thread), but are you’re saying if I have the Max Tow Pkg, I can’t fit 17” wheels?

That is correct, the max tow package and max tow package only comes with bigger rear brakes and 17s won’t clear. Smallest size you can go with is 18s, any other configuration besides the max tow can run 17s no problem.

Well that just changes everything I’ve had in mind. 😖

Sorry brotha! 🙏 I’ve seen a few members on here already try to make 17s fit with no success so at least you’ll save yourself the headache 🤕
