Maybe if that was a true statement.
According to Ford, that's how it is. Go watch the build and test videos they released back in 2011 err whatever it was when the 3.5L was released.

The 5.0 coyote was the next moduler from the 4.6 and 5.4 v8 engines. It was to take the place of both. The 5.4 was in the f150 before it found its way into the cobra.

The coyote was created to replace the 4.6 and 5.4. It was not designed for the mustang.

Your statement was not accurate.

Both mustang and f150 got the coyote in 2011.

One advantage of the V8 is the flex fuel capability. E85 aside from being a bit of a scam as it is, can be made from more than corn and if fuel shortages occur or rationing is instated; might be more available.

Just got my 5.0 platinum recently! I have to say, with the 3.73 gears I am extremely happy with the power for a big truck. Not to mention it sounds so damn good inside the cabin. Once that exhaust system gets put on its gonna unleash the true sound.

Right now (knock on wood) the engine is running great. I pushed it hard right off the lot. Averaging about 22mpg highway and 17-18 city. Not bad at all. However, once I lift it with 22x12 wheels that Mpg going to drop!

My idea is that at the end of the day your not really buying a truck to race, so why would you need the 3.5 speed unless you want the extra torque for towing etc, even then the 5.0 with the 3.73 gears is enough.

The 3.5L Ecoboost was designed to be a truck engine. The 5L Coyote was designed for a Mustang.

That's really all one needs to know to make a proper purchase.
You do not know what you are talking about.

Over the years, I've had 8 Ford trucks and all of them had V8 engines. I use mine mostly city and highway driving but al least 2 to 3 months per year in the bush and going to our hunting and fishing camp. That drive included over 4 hours drive with a trailer for the 4 wheelers then a 1 1/2 hours drive on bush roads and truck box loaded with generator and equipment.

My last two were a 2014 XLT FX4 crewcab 5.0 in race red and a 2018 XLT Sport crewcab 5.0 also in race red. I was extremely satisfied with both vehicles either road or off-road. I am currently waiting for a 2022 XLT Sport crewcab 5.0 in race red with similar options. Just love the power and handling of this truck. Never had any problems, always took good care of them and they took good care of me in return

Lol, dont get me going on motorcycles.

Nothing sounds as good as a big ole V-Twin.
Threadjack alert.

Disagree. A piped 6 into 6 (3 pipes on each side) Honda Valkryie is the best sounding bike I've ever heard!

I''ll BET...

The 5.0 is a MONSTER!

I have a "Land Yacht" too. But it's a Honda slug (V8 Pilot)
...my wife loves it, HATES my F150 and that's why we've stayed married for 30 years
😁
I do not recall the Honda Pilot ever having a V8.

I prefer the extra horsepower and torque of the turbo v6 in a truck, so I ordered a Powerboost for my F150.

I love the v8 sound, so my mustang has a coyote over the i4.

All of the engines for the F150 are capable and each provide their own benefits. You won't go wrong picking one. I just wish they still had a 3.0L diesel option, maybe even paired with the hybrid. That'd be a towing monster.

Hey everyone,

I'm new here but I ordered a Lariat with the v8 over the 3.5v6. I've been reading as much as I possibly can but it sounds like you cannot go wrong with either engine. I got the v8 as it has less moving parts so potentially won't break as much but wanted to know everyones thoughts. I will be hauling some outdoor fun toys on a 14ft trailer such as a SXS and a 4wheeler so my tow rate will be a bit under 5k on various weekends. Anyone disappointed they purchased the v8 over the 3.5v6?
My f150 is 3.5 hybrid . My third 3.5 ecoboost from flex to expeditioon now to f150. Love v8's but the 3.5 ecoboost is plenty of power , smooth and quiet unless ya modify exhaust ..

So when was the last time Shelby, Roush or Saleen used a V6 to modify? Most likely never. I've only seen V8s and there must be a reason.

True...but a lot more fun walking away from those noisy V8's quietly... looking at them in the rear view mirror...Just saying...;););)
