For some reason I thought he just didn’t know what his window sticker said. If he has his sticker and it doesn’t list a package at all then yeah, 7k.

Just call your local dealer and give them your vin and they can run it in the computer and tell you exactly what you can tow.

how can i find my truck max towing capacity ? My truck is a 2023 F150 XLT Supercrew Short bed 3.5 ecoboost 4x4 3.55 (rear locking differential), GVWR #7050, 1870 lbs of payload. Class IV hitch (weight carrying 500 lbs - 5000 lbs and weight distributing 1160lbs - 11600 lbs).
i dont see anything related to tow package or max tow package
I dont have the pro-backup knob.
OK, working through all of this absent your trim level or a pic of your window sticker ....

First, degerming what, if any, trailer tow package you have; per 2023 Order Guide for XLT:
  • Your Class IV hitch is available as a stand alone option on 300A or is included with 301A & 302A; the Class IV Hitch alone is option code 53B; note that 53B includes the 4/7 pin trailer connector.
  • Integrated trailer brake controller (67T) is available as a stand alone option if you have 53B
  • Lack of the Pro-Trailer Backup Assist knob tells us you do not have Trailer Tow Package 53A or 53C; Pro-Trailer Backup Assist is not available as a stand-alone option absent one of those packages.
  • Conclusion - You have Class IV Hitch option code 53B with no other "Trailer Tow Package"
Second, determining your maximum trailer capacity; in the 2023 Ford RV & Trailer Towing Guide
Ford F-150 2023 F150 3.5 ecoboost Max Towing capacity Pages from 2023-Ford-RV-and-Trailer-Towing-Guide

  • The all-important footnote 2 specific to the 3.5EB you have restricts your maximum trailer weight rating to "7,000 lbs. with only the Class IV hitch (53B)"
  • Conclusion - for your specific truck the maximum trailer weight rating according to Ford criteria is 7,000#

Hey Fiver, do you recall if all 14gen class IV receivers have the angled rear chain brackets? I know on 13gen trucks that was indicative of max tow, but I don’t think that is a thing anymore.

The absence of Pro-Trailer Backup Assist knob tells us that you do not have Trailer Tow Package 53A or 53C.

Absent 53A or 53C and having only 53B, Ford has decided to limit your tow rating to 7,000# notwithstanding any other options you may have.

Note that 53B may lack other components not disclosed in package details and not apparent to you which Ford deems necessary for a higher trailer weight rating.

You can be "confused" but that's the fact of Ford's rating.

Whether or not you accept or adhere to that is your prerogative.

Please see the edit I added to my previous post.

Not at all intending to be rude but unfortunately, though perhaps a problem for you, the weight of the boat you bought has nothing to do with Ford's rating scheme.

Again, whether or not you accept or adhere to Ford's ratings is your prerogative.

I do not know the answer to your question.

All I can offer is that my Gen 14 truck with 53C Max Tow does have 'angled' safety chain brackets

My receiver sticker states "V-5" (same as seen in the OP's first post) but has higher Weight Distributing ratings:
  • Max Gross Trlr Wt = 14,000# (vs OP's 11,600#) and Max Tongue Weight 1,400# (vs OP's 1.160#)
The Weight Carrying ratings are the same on my receiver and the OP's:
  • Max Gross Trlr Wt = 5,000# and Max Tongue Weight 500#

Thanks Buyer (sorry about the name thing).

I think all Gen14 classIV receivers now have the angled brackets but just not sure.

That confirms you have the Class IV Trailer Hitch (53B, included in your 301A equipment at no charge) and the optional Integrated Trailer Brake controller (67T), with no other trailer tow package.

IMO that also confirms that, at least per Ford's rating scheme, your maximum trailer weight rating is limited to 7,000# as previously explained.

BTW, other than lacking the tow rating you would prefer, looks like a nice truck.

I wouldn't know nor would I hazard a guess about the implications of 'angled' safety chain brackets (IMO that could be nothing other than a supplier fabrication detail having nothing to do with tow packages or tow ratings)

Yessir, agreed.

On the gen13 trucks it was a quick and easy way to determine if a truck had max tow or not.

Now we just look for broken bolt heads inside the rear center caps 😁
