At 17,000 miles major part in transmission had to be replaced due to leaking transmission 1st reported to dealer on 1/28/23 work completed 5/26/23.
33,000 miles rear end made loud clunk then started making grinding noise truck won't move unless in 4WD. It's being towed to dealer now. Has any one else had this problem?

Hrm, just last week there was another report of a grenaded rear end using 4wd to limp. Is this a max tow equipped truck?

Could have been the floating axle bolt issue causing the axle to slide in and strip the little bit remaining in the splines. Curious to see the cause. We've seen both pinion damage and the axle slide in on max tow.

 Having a rear diff grenade itself is not the same as the incorrect rear axel bolt thread pitch recall, but I’m curious if he had the recall done already and someone messed up when they replaced the half shafts.

I'd sure like to hear his vocal representation of the noise, but it could have been the pinon / ring gear, but I'd believe it's the axle sliding in, splines lack sufficient engagement, splines get sheared, diff just spins. Not a grenade scenario, can be checked by engaging locker (only after stopped) and seeing if motion possible.

Last weak was a failed pinion / ring gear. Instance before that was max tow axle sliding in and stripping.
