Greetings,
The wife and I are looking at a 202RBLE SURVEYOR LEGEND.

The truck is rated for towing 7700 and 8000 lbs. Depending on the source.
The camper is around 5,000 lbs. Anyone else with a similar setup, that can give me their experiences towing a camper with the 2.7EB?

Speaking from experience, the engines going to drag that thing around like a toy. I was pulling 5800lb 26ft with mine and passing slow traffic in passing zones on two lane highways with maybe too much gusto.

Have fun camping!

Ecoboost engines (both the 2.7 and 3.5 versions) should have no problems pulling that load. It's rare to hear a case where the ecoboost engine is not strong enough to pull whatever loads you hook up behind them.

The real questions come about with regard to the rest of your setup (especially related to payload). Depending upon options, your 2.7 may tow the same load very differently from somebody else's 2.7.

If you haven't read through it yet, find the 2021 F-150 Towing guide via google search. (I found it, but the link goes directly to the pdf document, so I can't link it here.)

Hello and good evening....a rather untimely reply to your question, but nonetheless here are my thoughts on your question.
We have a 2021 F150 XL FX4 SuperCab with the 2.7L EcoBoost egine and the 3.55 rear end. We use it to tow an Escape 19 TT that weighs approximately 4500# loaded. The truck has a payload capacity of 1690#. With the two of us and the assortment of necessary (?) camping gear (~300#) and other items the truck has no problem towing the trailer and are with the truck's towing parameters. I note that truck has the Ford towing package that includes, among other items, the trailer brake controller and the "Tow/Haul" mode for the transmission - a very useful feature. We also use a weight distribution hitch every time we tow our trailer. I note here that rarely do I exceed 60-62 mph when towing and have a ceiling of 2500 rpms, regardless of speed. The truck averages (hand calculated) between 15 and 16.1 mpg depending on terrain - the more hills, the more gas consumed, as expected. With the engine's HP, the 10 speed transmission and the rear end, the truck will readily start and then move the trailer.
I suggest that if you've settled on one or two specific trailer models that you visit the trailer owners' web pages of those trailers and research your question there. Generally the contributors on those pages are very generous with helpful insights and suggestions regarding suitable tow vehicles.

I have the 3.5, so I don't have any 2.7 experience. But back in the 80's and 90's, F150s towed campers your size with a 225 horse power v8. That 2.7 will do the job, no doubt about it.

What wheelbase? My 2016 SC towed and stopped my Jayco 24MBH fine. Did get some white-knuckle moments when big trucks passed on the highway. I haven't towed the camper with my '21 CC 6.5' bed longer wheelbase yet but longer is usually more stable. Of course, YMMV...

Yeah, you'll be totally fine with that setup. You won't know until you've done it, but if you think at all like the truck feels 'squishy' in the back, or there is too much bounce to the rear over pumps. I would recommend Load Range D tires (side walls on a SL rated tire are just too soft, and I don't like that 'feeling' while I'm towing. Also upgrading your rear shocks will do wonders with how the truck handles a trailer.

I have the 3.5EB, 157"WB, Max Tow for towing my Wildwood Heratige-Glenn 23BHHL, 7,600lbs
I run BF Goodrich K02 tires, load range D, upgraded to Bilstein 5100 shocks, and I added air bags to rear axle of my truck, but those are a personal preference, not a required piece of equipment.

Don't know anything about your truck but we did just buy a 2024 Surveyor 252RBLE and for sure, the published trailer weight specs are all off.

As you can see from my first tow / Cat Scale report. (post #8)

https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/first-big-tow-coming-up.18998/#post-380216

My recommendation, is you can use them as a baseline but leave yourself plenty of headroom, especially on tongue weight and therefore, payload capacity of your truck. A good anti sway WDH goes without saying.

We looked at the 202 and liked it but we have longer trips planned and liked the 252 for that better.

Just a guess here but you'll want to pay close attention to the loading in the truck and utilize what rear storage the camper has, to balance the heavier than published weights and other weight that you'll add in the front.

Also, if you haven't bought it yet, there were quite a number of significant upgrades to the 2024 model yr.

We use our ‘21 F150 supercrew with 2.7, 3.73 rear end, tow package and 1511 payload to tow our 6000 pound 23’ airstream. It’s an amazing combo. The engine does it’s part towing and slowing down the mountains. The brakes are great, combined with the trailer brakes.
