I'll start with the back story. I ordered this specific truck to upgrade the pop-up trailer I had to a small hard side travel trailer. We are a family of 4 and sometimes take the mother-in-law. Ordered the truck in July and it arrived in October 2021. Bought my 22ft 3200 lbs dry 2022 Coleman 17B in February of 2022. We like to schedule at least a 3 day weekend camping trip once a month from the months of April to at least September (I live in NC) in about a 2 1/2 hour radius. We like to stay out of the mountains in April and sometimes May, stay in the mountains during the hot months, then go to the beach in September (we have a week booked at Myrtle). The first trip was a short 45 minute drive up the interstate last month.

This trip was from Concord, NC to Jordan Lake, NC (just southeast of Raleigh). I figured I'd get around a 4 hour drive from my 26 gallon tank. Sure enough I was at about a half tank when we arrived. My trailer is about 4000 lbs loaded and I used Tow Haul mode. I noticed it's highest gear is 8, and it'll downshift to about 5th on the lowest going up some 4 degree hills (menu in the tow section). FYI I have the 3.31 gears and 4x2. Most of the trip was 55 mph with the occasional 65 mph and the 45 to 35 mph in some city areas.

I wasn't sure I was going to make it back home on a single tank, but we did. Dash said I was at 11.6 mpg, but hand calculated when I filled up was closer to 10.9 mpg, which was what I figured I would get. I'm pretty happy with the towing. It'll be interesting when I go on my next trip in 3 weeks to the mountains to see how the mileage changes. From what I've read in the NC Camping Facebook group I'm in, the end of that trip gets pretty rough with curves and grades. It's about a 2 hour and 13 minute drive, so I'll probably have to fill up on the way back.
