the guy in the video is exaggerating a bit.
probably found the most expensive one online and then threw the 5k price and doesn’t mention 2 tail lights. But a very quick search I found $1700 for one with all the tech. That’s blis, on board scales, leds, etc. considering you are buying it with a bunch of modules and a radar, it’s not that unrealistic of a price. Don’t want the tech? Don’t pay that price.
I guess an iPhone is a steal for a $1,000, huh. I believe it has a little technology, able connect to cell towers, and by gosh, it even has a screen to boot. 🤣😂

a radar unit isn’t that cheap. Probably around $500-$600. Add the scale unit for $200-$400 then the lamp unit for $250ish.
a radar is much more expensive than an antenna. Just so you know.

But do you need one? What happened?
You’re not just scouring the internet for scary prices of things right?

The scales aren’t in the light. They only show a visual with lights. The continuously controlled dampening suspension is what feed the computer the info. Sorry bud, I’m into electronics and there is no reason for that high price. I can buy a 98” TV for less than a pair of plastic tail lights. I can buy a top of the line computer for that price. Molded plastic with an LED is worth $1100?!! Give me a break.

Top of the line computer sure. With a top of the line CPU being min $500 and a GPU going over $1200. Great top of the line computer.
You are sounding like someone who started spending their own money and found out that things are more expensive than you thought.

You wanted 3D cams, radar, LED’s. I bought a basic halogen. You pay more for more. It’s not r*pe, it’s the cost of a good. You think all that capability should be free? What is this, socialism?
You realize the plating / housing are some of the more expensive parts, right? Just because they charge several arms and legs doesn't make them $$$. Your truck should have come with the headlights in the XLT/base lariats. They go out of their way to make vehicles 'ugly'. If it cost ford $80 for everything to put the 360 cams in I'd be shocked. You can buy the raw components for these parts for so cheap, it's astounding. When you sign POs for millions of them the price comes down substantially. Want a 12" display? They're about $35-50 buying 1 at a time.

I could see some $ royalties for some cutting edge stuff, but they're using components that are cheap because the tooling / fab is old. I'm still dumbfounded at just how much capability they'd cut to save a few $. They could have provided a much better user experience and cut the funding from advertising budget by offering things people really want to show off. Watching sync on the 15" screens stutter and lag doesn't make for a good review experience when put on the internet for everyone to see.

Need some? I've got just about every generation of CPU/GPU released in the last 2 generations. I've got 2 4080s sitting in a closet NIB for a few months.

Can someone please explain how the tail light on the Platinum has greater functionality than other models? Some of the electronics and hardware that previous posts mention should not be affected by tail light assembly replacement, unless they are all home run connected. If one of the components fail then all are replaced, etc.

Every penny counts and it’s beneficial to have stepping stones for trims. How else is Ford going to get higher margins? They make you feel like they are giving you something extra and charge higher margins.

I don’t really care about anything sync or infotainment software related myself, If it’s not tangible performance (chassis, engine, braking, appearance related) I could care less about it. Screens and infotainment software in cars aren’t worth much more to me than the toilet paper I flush every day. No real benefit even from the best systems, they are outdated and unsupported after 3 years and a smart phone does a better job. I’d prefer a radio with buttons if I’m being honest. I’m driving not surfing the web or working in excel.

Sure, in the video the truck’s tail lights were leaking and had water pooling. Not only did it mess up the components, but also caused it to start throwing codes. The fix was to replace both taillights and all the electrical within.

It's all fun and games until the TP runs out. The use is pre-flush, not post. Just because it's discard post use doesn't negate its actual value. Remember the wuflu scare? First thing that disappeared was that 'useless' TP. Folks might be a little hungry, but at least they had a clean ass :ROFLMAO:

Wow. Just get the morimoto fixture ~$800, simple install.
Totally on point. Replaced my cracked tailight for a set of morimoto on my Lariat.

Almost $1800 CAD from the dealer to replace. Morimoto looks WAY better than stock, at more than 60% of the the price for BOTH SIDES.

This is what happens when you have water in the taillights. My reverse lights became the signal lights, and serious malfunctioning. This is me flipping the lights to see if it was the lights causing the issue and nothing else in the truck. Water really screws these lights up including teh signal lights!~
