Unfortunately, there really is no way to "get ahead" of this issue since Ford won't pre-empt a repair for an issue that is not currently taking place. Just be prepared on your road trip with extra coolant/water just in case. That's really all you can do. Even then, if you had the leak now, getting it repaired by Oct is a crap shoot anyway.

The only way you could possibly be more prepared is to already have a backup pipe in a box in the bed of the truck. Lol
It's actually a really easy repair. You could do it in a campground.

Sorry to hear about the leak and that you had to drive back to the dealer to point at a puddle. ("Well there was no puddle at the front, why is it leaking back there?")

A few questions-
Do you know the date it was built?
Is it drivable?
Do you know the mileage when you noticed the leak? (approximate it ok)

Oh brother. You’d think they’d make it a priority.

No kidding, but I will say at this point I’m just happy to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

One tip for anyone that has been waiting for the part for awhile (if not already shared) - call Ford corporate and complain. They can expedite delivery of the part. In a nutshell they can assign you the part and have it delivered direct to the dealer from the manufacturer.

My repair was completed yesterday morning and so far so good . . . nice to drive the truck again without the chirp switching between electric and ICE . . . not to mention coolant levels holding steady. Fingers crossed it holds.

Regarding these leaks: If you have an obvious leak and they can't find it... There may be a crack that opens up when hot. So if they check for the leak when cold... they'll never find it. Rare to be sure but I've seen such... Always make a dealer warm up the truck before the leak check...

I’ve found that when I push the truck harder it leaks more. 10 min of sport mode and she’s thirsty.

Congrats - I checked the reservoir every day for a week then went to weekly. Now I'm just scanning for a puddle every once in a while. Hope yours holds.

I contacted Ford Customer Care a few months ago After minimal dealer engagement. After a retracted repot of parts available a few weeks ago, I was informed they shipped last week. Still waiting on call from dealer that parts (also have a failed trailer brake controller) have arrived and to schedule repairs. Just had 10k service performed and service adviser said “all fluids were topped off” yet the coolant reservoir was at low the level when I picked up the truck….I’ve been adding coolant before/after each extended drive.
