Powerboost Buying Tips?

I am shopping for a Powerboost F150. I am looking at used 2021 models and new 2022 models.
I look at the build dates on the window stickers. History tells me the later the build date, the less likely to have electrical troubles.

Are there any buying tips list here on the forum? thanks

Probably smart to get a later build. Mine has a build date of 3/21 and has had its fair share of quirks. Its been at the dealership for almost 3 months due to the leaking heat exchanger and parts shortages. Sounds like I'm finally going to get it back tomorrow.

Thanks for the confirmation. I am looking at two 2021s now. One build date is May 2021 and the other is September 2021. Both trucks are almost identically equipped.

I am looking around as well. Every 2022 that I look at in the XL or XLT trims is noted as a 'special order' meaning the dealer has already sold the vehicle. Can't find anyone that has 2022 Powerboosts in stock except for the high-end models. Guess I will have to order a 2023 and wait until 2024 for delivery!

Docden, I am searching in the surrounding states around Oregon. I am looking for a XLT crew cab with 6.5ft bed. Hard to find. I see a lot of new 2022 models listed on Edmunds and Auto Trader but they are all in transit. Salesman at a Seattle Ford dealer said they are expecting their 2022s to start arriving in a month. Waiting on chips of course. With interest rates and gas prices going up, I want to buy now.

Yeah. That's the problem. We are caught between rock and hard place. I haveva 2020 STX I want to use for trade. Market is giving me good trade in value but can't find stock on new PBs except special orders.

Depends if you can wait versus are in need of a truck now, but I’d suggest factoring current industry financial news into the decision as well. Those downsides of inflation your reacting to are starting to drive other changes that should help.

Specifically consumer demand and supply changes predicted from dropping consumer demand. Used prices are just starting to tick downward.

I read an analyst report the AM with a downgrade to Ford stock due to seeing undersupply turn to oversupply within the coming months.

What that could mean is PBs get easier with more options available at better prices, with some trade off with reduces value to your trade. May end up being cost neutral, but you could likely get closer to what to want without having to order and not feel you have to take what you can get.

Erixgix, thanks for the info. I am seeing daily price drops on used PBs from CARFAX and other auto shopping websites. I hear what you are saying at some point there will be lots of new PBs for sale. As the chip shortage bubble shrinks, Ford dealers will be flooded new F150s.
A friend who works at a local Carmax told me his hours were cut 20% because of low car sales. He said Carmax prices will drop.
Strange times thanks to the current DC administration.

1) Make sure it has the ProPower 7.2kw system
2) 360 cameras are pretty awesome
3) Don't get the max towing option

Hey Rick, yes 7.2kw ProPower is a must. I am currently driving a 2015 F150 with 2.7 Ecoboost. I haul a 125lb generator and gas can for non hookup camping. Will not miss lugging that around after I buy the PB with PP.
Max tow is nice but not required. I installed the max tow front sway bar,larger trans cooler, & air bags on my 2015. Those will transfer over to the new truck as needed.
