My transmission will not shift to 10th gear at any speed or mode

Did you subscribe to the Ford Premium “Full Access” transmission add on?

Not strange, since this is software driven, there may be something in the software that is caught...

I am going to second this recommendation. If the vehicle is NEVER going into tenth, it sounds like it has stuck itself into locking out 10th.

With all the option deletes...maybe there was a gear shortage and you got a $25 credit for only having 9 gears.

My 2.7 rarely hit's tenth. i don't think it will under 65 mph nor on any kind of headwind or incline. The big engines might be cruising up there.. but mine is in nineth most of the time on the highway....

Same with my 5.0L V8/3.31 @Snakebitten, it rushes to get up into 10th and will lock into 10th gear as low as 49-50 MPH. At times I actually manually lock out 10th, no reason to be idling at 50 mph. It doesn’t even look right when I look down at the tachometer lol.

What speed are you at when attempting to reach 10th gear? Switch to eco mode and cruise at 70mph on the highway.

Is 10th gear on the indicator/speedometer grayed out? Or is it glowing like the rest of the gears?

2021 2.7 is often in 10th at a wide range of speeds. Not complaining I have plenty of power and rarely see boost gauge go up even under fairly quick acceleration.

Have you seen your truck install over the air updates? I've read one or two have improved shifting.

I don't think the PCM updates have ever been delivered OTA.
But they definitely are great updates for the 2021 & JOB1 2022 trucks shifting improvements.

Really? Mine feels like it races to 10th as quick as it can.

Is there a chance you guys are using Sport, Tow/Haul, etc. instead of Eco or Normal modes? Sport likes to keep things in 8 in situations where Normal would put it in 10.

OTA was broken when I bought truck so I don't know what all was supposed to be delivered OTA.

I do think it's highly unusual for a transmission to never use 10th gear.

Going to work this morning my truck didn't shift to 10th until 62 MPH.

I agree it would be unusual for 10th to not ever be used. But it's the 3rd overdrive ratio and likely wouldn't even exist for the first 100 years of passenger vehicle history.

I'm happy to have it available, of course. But its usually manually locked out on my truck until I'm on some road with 70+mph speed limit.
And if I had a 3:31 differencial, I might not unlock it except on the interstate?
