My transmission will not shift to 10th gear at any speed or mode

Truck rarely gets above 1500 RPM and sips gas compared to my old 3.5 so I'm not complaining at all about the transmission.

How do I lock out gears? Usually Ford have a +/- button for that but I must not be seeing it.

You'll be able to view the 10th gear with "X" from your dash.

Yep, on the spot where your thumb rests on the left side of shifter....

I agree it would be unusual for 10th to not ever be used. But it's the 3rd overdrive ratio and likely wouldn't even exist for the first 100 years of passenger vehicle history.

I'm happy to have it available, of course. But its usually manually locked out on my truck until I'm on some road with 70+mph speed limit.
And if I had a 3:31 differencial, I might not unlock it except on the interstate?

This is where my 5.0 with 3.31 sits at 50 mph. Wasn’t kidding you. It’s literally idling down the road lol.

With all the option deletes...maybe there was a gear shortage and you got a $25 credit for only having 9 gears.
