I was wondering myself. I'm actually using an Anker charger in that front compartment under the radio I found somewhere on these forums that works pretty good. Even with some.. uhh... "spirited" driving.

Nice! Thanks, in the long run, this is probably better, because we can swap out chargers as newer ones come out.

No problem! These are exactly what I got. Like I said, the idea came from another member here, so I can't take credit. Lol.

JediNut,
I looked over that charger and was thinking about a few of the bad reviews. Did yours come with a USB outlet next to the power switch? One grip was the one they got did not have it.
Several stated how hot their phone got with only 1% charge after 20 minutes. Have that problem?
Others with the fit problem that you took care of with a little file. When the seller states they will fit.
Last would be the power connector on the unit you received. Old style cig lighter or new type "C" USB?
When you see items with less than 70% 5 stars, you have to wonder about the product. Going to get a good one or get a pile of junk.......?
The current description does state that you cannot use both trays in a 2021, only one.
You can use both trays in 2015-2020. I did notice that when I ordered a couple days ago.

Mine just arrived a few minutes ago. It does have the USB-A port on top and the power button appears to work. I have it hooked up on my workbench, but since my phone was at 100%, I have not checked it yet for speed or heat. I plan to use it here in the house overnight a few times to evaluate both speed and heat build up. The vents are on the bottom, so I do have it "lifted" off the workbench.

Side note: I have had that Anker wireless charger and used it in the house for several months. Works good for me, but it (like most all wireless chargers) is a good bit slower than a direct connection with a good cord and high speed port adapter. Usually I have no issue with leaving it for a few hours. You can do that when you're retired!

I have an iPhone 11.

Don't you need wire for Apple CarPlay anyway? Or is it wireless on the Lariat? If I have to plug in anyway, then the wireless charger is kind of pointless.

Yep... mine came with a USB-A port on top, next to the power button. You can see that in the photo on my earlier post; right behind the charging pad are the USB port, a power light and the power button. I have had no charging issues, it seems to charge my iPhone X just fine. The connector on the bottom of the tray is a USB-C (pictured below) and it came with a USB-C to USB-A cable, so it just plugs into the USB-A port inside the console.

You can run it wired or wirelessly. Around town I usually use the charger cord coming from the center console near the cupholders, if it's a longer drive or I'll need to run Spotify offline I'll usually plug it in under the display.

I can run wired or wireless. Although, I have had times where Spotify will go through periods of "play-for-20-seconds, stop-for-5-seconds, repeat-until-I-get-pissed-and-turn-it-off"

I haven't done any testing to see if it happens both wired and wireless.

Anybody else experience this problem with CarPlay?

Anyone with KC builds?- if so how is your lariat doing? Just got my vin and saw it’s KC but have heard they’re a mess compared to Dearborn. Should I be concerned about quality coming from KC?

Not sure where you heard about quality issues with the KC plant. My Lariat was built there 7/11 and I drove it off the lot 7/28. No QC issues with mine. Just a hood scratch that could have come from just about anywhere & that will be fixed on Tuesday.

First I’ve heard of any such rumors. Doubt there is anything to them. My KC lariat is on it’s way and have zero concerns or worries… just needs to get here already lol.

The only thing annoying and its not a KC or Dearborn thing is how only certain options are at one plant or another limiting certain builds. IE I wanted the power running boards but that’s Dearborn only and I got Space White which is KC only.

My 2/5 ordered Laiat 502A powerboost finally in my driveway this week. Only drove It 100 miles so far but found no problems so far. Well worth the wait. Love the quality of the ride. Running errands in town had lots of electric drive miles. This is one sweet truck.

Thanks for the full info on this unit. I may consider one.

As Kiddy Cat would say my Lariat from KC is Purrrrrrrfect. The only problem I had with KC is they closed the factory the day before they were going to build mine. That added three weeks to my 18 week wait.

You can download Spotify playlists then run the app offline. If the playlist is downloaded and you're running it plugged in it should be fine.
