Customer Satisfaction Program 23B84: Windshield may not have been properly adhered during vehicle assembly

Anyone else get one of these notifications? I got one last night. Called my dealer today. They weren't aware of it and had to look it up. I did schedule an appointment but am not sure I'll go yet. Thinking of waiting on more details. Or should I?

I'm always curious when one of these pop up without previous noise regarding the potential issue. So exactly what was the discovery process by Ford? Was it something that showed up on the assembly line when a robot or some piece of equipment was discovered "out of spec"?

Then that leads to a determination of VINs assembled since the previous calibration check?

I don't anticipate many dealers are equipped to do work like this in house. Unless they've also got a collision shop, this will likely be outsourced.

Lots of dealerships have relationships with mobile glass/windshield vendor. Similar to having a relationship with a locksmith.

So I suppose the truck would still be repaired at the dealership, yet by a contracted windshield repair company?

Yes, they said they work with a windshield company and subcontract it out. Offered me an appointment end of next week.

That's crazy I had the same issue in early 2021, all early models (maybe first 3 or 4 months) for that year had to have the windshield re-glued. I cannot believe they are having it again.

Got the letter also. What’s everyone’s recommendation here? Let it drift or take it in? I’m inclined to ignore the hell out of it.

I got a letter too. I have seen posts about water intrusion in the cab of these trucks before but have had no issues. They want me to bring the truck in so they can take my windshield off, inspect it, and reinstall it. I’m a if it’s not broke, don’t mess with it kind of person so any harm in just leaving it alone? Seems like it would be opening up more room for errors if they take the windshield off and reinstall it.

My 21 had this recall back in 2021. They ruined the original windshield with an adhesive stain and it took over 6 months to get a replacement. So my windshield has been out twice. They used a local glass installer both times.
