3 very cool feature on the new super duty announced today:
1. Camera in top of tailgate so when open, rear camera still works (my tailgate will be open when I have dirt bikes in back
2. Built in bumper steps and side steps to more easily access bed
3. Heads up display (includes trailer info too)

Pretty sweet. I hope these trickle down to my 23 F150 build … scheduled for Oct 24 🤣

box or bed steps up front seem weird when we have full length running boards that go into the bed area. but steps on the bumper makes sense. its a small place now to land a foot and its up there.
i like the tailgate cameras, but really a 150 isn't a great fifth wheel tow vehicle IMO thats super duty territory, we are always overweight... (y) but having a better view when taigate is down with long loads aboard is a nice feature
heads up stuff is either or.

i really liked my 21 f250, but my wife is vertically challenged so it was TOO tall.
longer drop running boards are a must
the longer drop tailgate step is GREAT. on the 250 it was a HUGE step to get to the step
its still high on the 150 but not as much . not sure how they extended it 3 or 4 inches?

they jumped the line a bit by providing more tech in the superduty than whats in the 150.
shoot they share the same cab...

I'm confused, what does the additional tailgate camera have to do with a fifth wheel?

Tailgate is dropped down when backing up to hook up a fifth wheel with present back up camera it shows the ground. So for those without the bed camera they have no cameras

Not gonna happen on a 23MY truck. Order guides and production are already in place.

Refresh is coming in 24MY, based on the internet. If so, you might see things like the HUD, cameras, or 5G make it onto the F150s.

Personally, I can't stand the bed or bumper steps. I hope if they do offer them, that they are an option.

And you use the overhead bed camera to line up the hitch. Still don't know what a fifth wheel has to do with this new camera.

Not everyone has the 360 package with bed camera, I for one had it removed from the factory due to shortage

The bed camera is part of the 360 package even though it doesn't use that camera for the 360 view?

In any case, this new tailgate camera is not there to help with fifth wheel hook up.

Yes it is, only reason I ordered the 360 package was for bed camera.

Agree not for hooking up a fifth wheel (bed camera would be used for this) but think it is for backing up to a fifth wheel.

Either way I think it is a cool new piece of tech.

Oh man, I'll for sure take the HUD. I've had them in Chevy rental cars and they are nice.

The second tailgate camera is kind of a no-brainer. I can't tell you how many times I had the tailgate open and wished for a different camera view. The 360 cam helps but still lacks a little bit.

Only thing I wonder about is durability and resistance to yellowing/fading. The vast majority of the time that camera will be pointed up to the sun. It's going to be exposed to a lot of UV.

Very nice new tech in the Super Duties. Question is; will Ford and their suppliers be capable of supplying the new tech before we ever consider if it will trickle down to the F150? I truly hope so and get the world back on track!

These are the two that caught my eye:

  • 360-Degree Trailer Camera System** that provides a bird’s-eye view of the trailer to make maneuvering in tight spaces easier and with virtually no blind spots
  • Pro Trailer Hitch Assist** automatically backs the truck up and aligns the conventional hitch ball to the trailer receiver
Wonder if that could be part of an OTA update? I wonder if the bird's eye view of the trailer would require an additional trailer mounted camera?

in my last trucks my tool box mounted in bed blocked part of the view. tailgate cameras give one more leg of information . i have bounced the pin against the tool bx a few times.
plus a good thing is when you have gate down because a long load, it adds one more pic of whats behind or below bumper as you back up. imo

the 5g thing is confusing..my sync4 has 5g setting already? for the wifi set up
