Hey, I picked up a Noco 5x1 which I plan on mounting in my 2021 PB. The problem is finding a place to put it. The engine bay is pretty much full. Right now I have it zip tied to the battery strap and it does not hit the hood when closed. Another option is to mount it on top of the fuse box. Suggestions?

I used 3M double sided tape to mount a noco genius 10 to the top of the passenger side fuse box. I have the power code end sticking out right above the passenger headlight. Don’t even need to pop the hood to plug in!

I installed mine on the right of the radiator tank. Their is some space there with two slotted plastic channels. I passed the wires under the pestone tank all the way below the left head light. I then drilled a 2inch hole on the plastic part of the front (between the headlight and the metal bumper).
Don't forget to install the negative lead of the charger on top of the BMS (Battery Monitory System). See included pictures. With this installation, I have a permanent installation. Good luck

I like your location, but us PB owners have a second tank there.

This setup looks ideal and I'm planning to follow your lead on this. How did this go over the past year? Which NOCO plug did you use? The standard 16" or longer extension? How did you secure the wires?

I didn’t use that model exactly for the spacial issues. Mine plugs into the wall and I only have the cord routed out of the grille. Tucks nicely behind grill when not in use.

Ground on the body. The charging cord lays in the hole right by the plug. I open the hood and connect when I park.

Charging is great with the 5 amps charger but it takes a while before reaching full charge when I did not use it for a while. But on my new F250, I used the 10 amps charger for a faster charge, but the charger is a lot bigger.

The 16" is long Noco plug is enough if you pass the charger wire where I passed mine.
For fastening the charger wire, I used tie-wraps and in some places there were extended pieces of plastic (I guess from the molding process of some parts) that I drilled and passed a tie-wrap in the hole and around the wire.

As you can see on the front of the truck, I also used a Noco plug for the engine block heater (where I live, a block heater is mandatory if you want to be able to start your truck in the morning in winter 😉). So I have a 2 Noco plugs symmetrical on each sides.

I did the same thing on my F250, but I installed the Noco plugs on the plastic face besides the front tow hooks. I like this setup even better since the plastic face is black and the Noco plug is also black.

I have one of those in my current CDN-spec truck, OEM from the build. And I've used it during these 72 hours of below -5 (not counting the windchill factor) evenings/nights. The only complaint is the afterthought of where it "clips" on for stowing away. That engineer gets the underwhelming achievement award! :poop:

I'm at the point where I want to drill the 2" hole into the plastic below the headlight to mount the noco receptical, but unsure of what's behind. Probably would be a good idea to remove the plastic piece first to check things out. Any suggestions for this process? Did you remove the plastic piece when you installed?

Hello, I did remove the plastic trim completely from left to right, not knowing how much space there was and also not knowing exactly where I could drill the holes. I drilled the holes with the trim off from the truck. I would suggest that you also remove the plastic trim. But before you do, put some painters tape along the bottom of the bottom head light and also on the top of the plastic trim (just below the head light), then draw vertical lines one on top of the other on both painters tape. Then remove the plastic trim. This will give you a few references to where the best location to drill is. This is what I did. This also helped me to have the exact location on both sides (same spacing for the left and right holes, if you are doing a charger and also engine block heater like I did). If I remember correctly, there is a bolt behind both ends of the trim, then the rest of the retention is pressure clips. By the way there might also be a different location for the Noco plugs. Look on top of the front tow hooks (the black plastic trim). Good luck.

I also have a '24 KR and when looking under the hood, there is not much free space there to mount a charger. I thought about mounting on top of the battery or the fuse box like you have. However, on the NOCO website, someone asked about the heat the charger generates. Per NOCO
, " Depending on the battery condition and size, Genius can get up to 85°C or 185°F while it is charging the battery. This would be considered normal operating conditions. " I am concerned about the effect of that heat on the plastic fuse box lid or the battery. Have any of you that have used these mounting locations had any problems from the heat the charger generates? Any other suggestions on where a Genius5 can mount on a '24 Powerboost?

Cord is easily tucked into the grille. With it being zip tied at the top, it can’t get into the shutters.
