What is this mystery part that fell off my truck?

Found this hanging on to my exhaust. Any idea where this heat shield should have been?

it was stuck underneath middle of the box above the driveshaft area. don't know it's purpose though..Mine's not sticking very well either and will fall off before to long.

Looks like sound proofing material that is usually stuck to the inside of the cab.

Could it have been stuck to the hybrid battery? The bottom of the battery is textured/ridged so I can't imagine this would have stuck to it. But curious if it was meant to keep heat away from battery.

The foil/shiny look actually reflects a lot of Infrared heat, so if the shield is to protect a battery, It would be in your best interest to make a warranty claim with your dealer. Don't just ignore it

That is the sound proofing panel that is fixed above the drive shaft U Joint. I just had to take mine to the dealership to get them to apply more adhesive as mine was falling off and hitting the drive shaft.

The dealership just used 3M double sided tape to put it back in place.

Yup, it is just above the driveshaft on mine. It fell down last week and had me worried I needed a new transmission. Just put it back up and underneath another het shield and seems to be staying.

Mine was like that when I picked it up. I just pressed it back into place and it's stayed there since.

If its the same piece it has nothing to do with the battery or with the cab.

How did people fasten theirs back up? Mine fell off too, wasn't sure what exactly to use to glue it back in place.

I used spray adhesive to fix mine in place. Pull it down, spray both the insulation and the underside of the truck, wait about 30 seconds and press them together firmly. It's been fine ever since.

This is why I love this forum. Over the weekend, I was hearing an odd sound coming from what seemed like under the vehicle. It was the first time towing our camper so I was afraid that I had caused some damage somehow. After reading this, I looked under my truck and found a piece of this sound/heat shield resting on my drive shaft. I wedged it up under another piece but will look for a more permanent solution. I did schedule a 1 hour session at the Service department at the dealership to get this fixed permanently.

The heat shield came off the bottom of the bed just above the axle where The exhaust pipe goes over the axle. Went to the local dealership had to order it was on back order for a while. Clean the bed peel and stick. They allowed me to take it home and put it on myself
