What’s the flat key for?

I'm not sure which key you mean, but I believe its to lower the spare tire (key socket next to hitch) or to unlock door in the event of a dead battery or to lock the back seat in the down position. If equipped the lock is on the panel near the floor when you first open the door.

I also found that same key and can confirm that it does indeed lock and unlock the center console and glove box.

It was in the packet of paperwork.
I have confirmed that it is the same laser cut as the keys in the fob so it’s a spare for that.

I discovered that you need the flat key to access the spare tire access hole to the right of the rear license plate. You need to remove the lock cylinder to lower the rear tire.

It will also work for the console lock.

Mine was on the shelf on top of the dashboard where you'd never ever see it, unless you looked through the windshield or something. I found it entirely by accident when exploring my new truck I swept my hand over the dashboard ... "WTF is this...?"

I had the same reaction. Only mine was in the bottom cubby of the drivers door panel

Your key fob key will do that too.

The flat key is cut the same.

I have the same post a few down. lol

Found mine in the bottom of a cupholder. It doesn't do anything your regular key can't do, plus no way to put on a key ring, so I don't really get it.

Someone mentioned in my post that it would be good for sending someone in your truck to get something from a locked glovebox or console if you didn't want them having access to driving your truck. I just can't imagine a scenario where you'd let someone in your locked areas without trusting them to have a normal key.

Mine is going in a junk drawer.
