I bought a video mirror dash camera for my truck. Not so much for the dash cam aspect, but for the video mirror. The question was where do I mount the rear camera? On the license plate or trailer hitch is an easy location, but that's really to low. On the cab is doable also, but then the truck bed is always in the view. Not good for using as a mirror. I settled on the tailgate. Using the supplied bracket, some 3D printed wedges, and 3M body tape I fashioned a workable mount. I then thought 'why not 3D print the entire mount' which I did. I haven't switched over to it yet. How good is it? I think it'll handle almost anything. I haven't tested it in a car wash yet. They can be brutal on accessories. I thought I'd post and share my STL file should you like to print your own.
BTW, this is for '21-'23 tailgates.
