2022 F150 on order
Hi all,

I’m in Canada and my truck is a 2022 PB delivered to me in June 2022 and I’ve had 25k km on it.

This warning came on a couple of days ago and it went away on its own. I decided to bring it into the dealership anyway. When I did this morning, the warning actually came back.

I did a search and found a number of threads re: the same issue. Similar I should say, as mine says “powertrain or a four-wheel drive fault”. Other posts I found all say “fault in the high voltage system”.

Waiting to hear from the dealer, and wondering what’s wrong with my truck…

Was there a big temp drop overnight? The SOC on the HVB can trigger this alert.

There was a drop overnight, but not a big drop. This is definitely not the coldest this winter.

Bet your dealership won't have a clue. It's not like the truck left them some secret log file somewhere for them to look up and see what triggered the alert.
As HammaMan stated, SOC of the Hybrid battery is one of the things that can trigger that alert, but ironically the truck will remedy that issue itself after the ICE runs for a couple of minutes and raises the SOC above whatever the alert threshold actually is. (I believe it is somewhere in the lower 30% range personally)
I wouldn't be too worried about it unless you were to experience again. And if so, I would definitely invest in an OBD adapter and monitor the SOC directly to confirm that the Hybrid battery is in fact dropping below 40% SOC.
Typically it shouldn't.

Dealer’s going to replace the generator and starter. Parts ordering takes 5 days and they don’t suggest I drive my truck in the meantime. I’m waiting for a loaner as we speak.

You threw that one momentary code, and no other issue, and Ford ok'd replacing components?

That's amazing.

By the way, those terms are almost generic on the Powerboost.

Which starter? (there's a couple)
Which generator? (there's several)
The Powerboost even has what Ford calls a Starter Generator. :)

I know, it seems out of the blue to me as well. I asked the Service Adviser what issue they found, and she said it was the faulty generator causing that code, hence the replacement.

Very interesting.
Regardless of the ambiguity, at least your dealership seems to take customer service seriously. :)

More than 2 weeks later, I still haven't gotten my truck back. The dealership is still waiting for the parts to arrive. They aren't on back orders, but just not showing up.

They also "upgraded" my loaner from a Toyota CH-R to a Ram. Anyone find it ironic that I'm given a Ram while my F150 is in the shop?

Mine is doing the same thing... 2023 with 237 miles very disappointing for a 65K truck.

Sounds like they changed to lower cost part suppliers and getting faulty parts or poor quality.

I think this is the new normal for Ford in general. Makes me worried about the 24 PB I have on order.
