New tires won’t set on rims

New 295/70/18 tires on new method 314 18x9” rims. 3 of the 4 tires won’t set on the rims. I watched them for 2 hours try multiple tricks; ratchet straps, some special bead air tool and multiple air lines with no success. They are going to bring them inside in the heat overnight and try some tool that will let them drop the tpms sensor to get more air in there. Hopefully they’ll get it and call me tomorrow. Anyone run into this before?

There shouldn't be a problem mounting a 11.5" wide tire on a 9" wide wheel. No idea what's going on.

Yea they didn’t know either. Had the owner, manager and multiple shop guys working on it. He said he’s never seen this before, go figure that’d be my luck. He did show me a sharp ledge inside the rim that they can’t get the bead to jump over. I’m thinking once they drop the sensors they will be able to get a better burst of air in there but we’ll see.

Sounds like either a tire or rim issue, I would take the tire off the 1 that worked. Try that tire on another rim, and try another tire on the "good" rim. If the tire works fine on another rim, I would say the other 3 tires have issues. If another tire tire works on the "good" rim I would think the other 3 rims have issues.

I've got 33x12.5's on factory rims(8.5") that is an unusual predicament.

They ended up calling me few hours later to tell me they got it done. They said they let the tires warm up and that they used some special bead tool. It’s interesting how it magically gets done when I’m not there to watch lol! Either way they run smooth and look good so I’m happy

This is how method wheels are. They have a crazy bead.. it's prevents the tire from coming off the bead when low or even flat. I have had multiple sets that I run on an offroad car, they all have been the same.
Wait and see what happens when you try to take them off.... it's a nightmare.....

Mine was the same. Most Method wheels have a special bead groove that makes it harder to set, but also harder to slip a bead when aired down.

My shop got 2 done in the first try, and the other 3 took about an hour and 3 guys with tools to coax it into the channel.

Love the 314s, mine are 35x12.50 on an 18in wheel
