Is there a way to calibrate Pro Trailer Backup Assist

I have had 3 F-150s, all with Pro Trailer Backup Assist . a 2016, 2018 and now a 2021 Powerboost.

I have a lot of experience with using this feature since I never pulled a trailer growing up and I have found that the 2016 & 2018 version worked much better than my 2021. Ford made a lot of changes to programming it and how you add trailer dimensions. I seem to have issues when I am backing up and trying to turn it all the way. It's hard to explain but it just does not seem to respond as well or accurately as my 2016 & 2018.

I called the dealer and asked if there is a way to recalibrate Pro Trailer Backup Assist and they had no idea.

Has anyone experienced this?

Two ways. Both with fdrs.
If you have 360 cameras you run the 360 camera calibration

if you have rear cam only you run the cam to trailer camera alignment

that’s the only calibrations available for pro trailer assist

Other than FDRS itself, is there any other equipment (like checkered floor mats) required to calibrate the 360 cameras?

FDRS is the Ford Diagnostic & Repair System. It is the diag system Ford Dealers use and have access to. We have access also. You have to have the proper cable.

well my initial question was is there a way to calibrate the Pro Trailer Backup Assist and you replied with 360 calibration, so I guess that led me to believe I needed it.

Oddly enough I just had the passenger mirror replaced and I know they had a calibration performed because I told they had to send it out to a Ford dealer.

Even though the mirror was just replaced in August, this issue with feeling the backup assist was not working correctly was happening BEFORE the mirror was replaced.

when mine acted up, failed to turn trailer .
i did the reset or Program the trailer thing and it cleared out what ever was messing with the system.
my only issue is a hard 90 from street to driveway, it just cant compute. i end up doing it the manual way
truck tries like hell, but gets out of kilter and stops

Yeah I had that happen. I might delete the trailers and start over.
