I purchased a used 2021 502a late last year. When I bought it I asked the dealer if the truck needed the Yaw cord or could use stickers for the Pro Trailer Backup Asssit because I read the 2021 were built one way or the other. The truck did not have either the Yaw or the stickers in it (but does have the Yaw port on the back), however the dealer told me he verified it could use the stickers and got a pack from another vehicle on the lot to give to me. Now that the weather is getting better I was finnaly able to take the camper out of storage. When I tried to program the trailer it said the sensor was not detected (even though the sticker was where the instructions told me to put it and in camera view). So I am thinking that means it needs to have the yaw and can not use stickers. Has anyone ran into this before?

Note: I have no problem backing up a trailer without this technology, however if I bought a truck with this technology I would love to at least try it out. So I don't need any comments that just tell me the system is for those that can’t back up a trailer.

My truck has not gotten any updates since I got it late last year so I am wondering if that is why the stickers won’t work, or if they never will on my truck. Is there a way to activate it in Forscan? Do you think this would be covered under warranty? I bought my truck from a dealer not near me, so I wasn't sure if a local dealer would help me without charging me.

Any information anyone can provide I would appreciate. If it helps any my Vin is 1FTEW1EP0MKD76448

What is the date of manufacture on the door sticker ?

You'd have to go back and look at the 2021 build threads, but I think I recall the yaw cable was required for trucks built summer of '21 and at some point in the fall/winter, they switched to the stickers. I don't recall if there was a period of overlap or not. I'm sure someone else will chime in.

If I am looking at the correct spot, the door says 04/21.

yeah, I think you require the cable and the stickers won't work, but we'd need someone else to confirm.
Thanks, I did try going through some other threads without much conclusion before posting. Seems like many say an update was supposed to roll out, but never saw anything that confirmed it did. Hopefully someone else can confirm, but I appreciate the information.

Since the Yaw/12-point receptacle/trailer camera/trailer tpms system can be retrofitted on a later year model, you would think that the reverse could be accomplished even easier?
Because you wouldn't actually need to alter hardware, but only the software/AsBuilt?

It's a long thread, of course, but I would suspect you could discern whether my suggestion is valid or not.

Is the Yaw sensor unavailable?

Thanks I will give this one a read. Unfortunately they did not provide me the yaw sensor since they assured me the sticker would work and I had to sort of “inconvenience them” to even pull those from another vehicle. If it won’t work I will also try reaching out to the dealer to see if they will provide me one, but I won’t hold my breath because once they got my money they were radio silence pretty quick since I was not from the area and they didn’t expect any regular maintenance or service to come from me. Makes sense it should be an easy software or forscan update, so I hope I find out that is the case, I would prefer not to hook up 2 cables everytime, especially assuming I may not regularly use the asssist, but I would like to try it out as I can see how it could make certain maneuvers easier. Fingers crossed.

I have a 21 job 1 as well and have not been able to get it to calibrate with the stickers. I went through the process multiple times but the truck wouldn’t calibrate, can’t remember now what the issue was but I eventually gave up. Btw mine came with a pack of stickers in the glove box so I assume it should be capable of using the stickers.

Not related to the question asked, but I've had spotty success with my stickers. Mine is a 22, so the yaw wasn't available any longer. Im not comfortable using the pro trailer, but when I've attempted to use it, it ends up losing the trailer and the truck applys the brakes. I've repositioned the stick and recalibrate, with no change.

Unless you're going "all in" and adding compatible TPMS and a backup camera, I don't think it's really worth bothering setting it up.

Just for confirmation, I have a '22 XLT PB with Max Tow and PTBA. The yaw sensor will work with a bumper pull travel trailer correct? I've seen both "no" "yes" and "stickers or yaw both work". I have the Customer Placed Camera, TPMS and Yaw kit, verified with the right bumper connections. My truck came with stickers.

I have the same 22 XLT PB with PTBA. The sensor lock fails every time the sticker is backed into a shady intermittent sunshine area. Like an area mostly (partly) shaded from the sun by tree leaves. Is this what happens to you?

Nope. I've only tried mine in a wide open parking lot, never at a campground or any other type of shaded place.
I didnt notice if the angle of the sun against the truck or trailer was changing and causing it to occur.

I purchased a used 2021 F150 XTR and I have not been able to get the sticker to work.....they system does not recognize the Stickers.
When I purchased it the previous owner took everything out of the truck....mats....yaw controller, manual.....everything that they could.

I was told that my SYNC needed to be updated as it was at Version22293_PRODUCT Revision 610.
It is now at Version 23031_PRODUCT Revision 713. And the Stickers still are not recognized.

I see many people with this issue.....just no way to sold this.

If anyone had succeeded with a 2021 and Pro Trailer with stickers?

If so, can you advise what version or revision software you have.

I know I am on FORD UP 4.2.1 maybe that is the issue.

I will be at the dealer again tomorrow.

Ford screwed a lot of us on the sticker function unless you do it yourself from what I gather by pushing out updates out of sync.
