I've now got over a thousand miles on my new truck, and a few fill-ups, so I'm confident: My truck's reported MPG is wrong. I'm averaging 14-15MPG in reality, whereas the truck seems to think I'm at 17-18MPG. Is there a way to calibrate the gauge?

FYI attached are notes I used to tweak mine and get it much closer to MPG based on odo miles/pump gallons for most situations.

In my case tracking both at every fill-up over ~10k miles, and having done the adjustment about 4k miles ago, the 'deviation' went from average ~4-8% MPG to average ~0-2% MPG after tweaking the "AFE" value via "Engineering Mode" on the instrument display

Source is here: 22 F150 fuel economy on screen is way off from true usage (actual pumped gas) - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans

Have Fun!

I track my fuel use with a software package which I find is not always the same as the truck, tank to tank fills, but over almost 3 years, it is so close I am not worried about the very small difference. If there is any difference. I see 14L/100 km on the dash, but when I enter it into my program, it drops down to something more realistic.

Also, what you see is fuel consumption over time. Sitting in traffic, it will go up but take time to drop down, time.

Just have to decide if it is with or without sand...

My truck was just about 10% off. Adjusted the AFE in engineer mode to 900, and now is pretty close to accurate.

I recalibrated my 2018 and now my 2021 to within .2-.3 mpg. I made it trend just slightly higher consumption so I'll always be better after calculating with the Fuelly app.
The 2018 was an STX with 20" wheels, 2.7 EB & 3.55 rear end. The current truck is an XLT PowerBoost with 20" wheels and 3.77 rear end. I had to set the AFE Bias to 963 on the 2018 and 960 on the 2021. I'd assume tire diameter and axle ratio would affect the calculations. All trucks seem to come set at 1000 even though there are so many different tire diameters and axle ratios.

Mine was 12.5% off. Engineer mode works even if you don't have a start button - just enter the truck, push and hold OK for 5 seconds (do not let go), insert the key, turn it to accessory mode, and once your dash finishes booting, it should say Engineer mode. Safe to release the OK button at that point. One tap "up" to get to AFE, OK to enter the screen, down arrow 100 freaking times, then OK again because doing it another 25 times would irk me.

Hopefully it's close enough.

Haha, On my first truck I was pushing the down button FOREVER until I realized I could go up just a couple clicks...
